As someone else who grew up in the South, I too have been somewhat confused by the vitriol against the Confederacy in recent years. Yeah, I always found those "South will rise again" types kinda cringey, but they were harmless. But now we have lefties hurling such invective at Southerners that would make even the staunchest anti-Confederates during Reconstruction blush. It's insane.

And radium is not generally discharged into the water from a power plant.

the funny thing is, Canada is renowned for CANDU reactors, which can use fuel that is basically waste from other kinds of reactors. Canada built 10 of those reactors all over the world. There are currently 19 of them in Canada; mostly in Ontario.
