To calculate NCAVPS, subtract all liabilities from current assets, then divide the result by shares outstanding. This gives you the price the company should be trading at. Now, compare that to the current price; if NCAVPS is lower than the price, that's when you buy.

This sounds boring as hell, so here's an example:

Let's say we want to invest in KiwiCorp. Looking at KiwiCorp's finances, we find the following current asset and total liability values as of January 1, 2024:

• Current Assets: $1,000,000
• Current Liabilities: $50,000
• Long-Term Liabilities: $500,000
• Legal fees: $50,000
• Shares Outstanding: 100,000

Working it all out, the NCAVPS is $4.00 per share, meaning if the company were liquidated today, every shareholder would receive $4.00 per share. Comparing the NCAVPS to the price, we find the price is only $2.00 per share. This means that KiwiCorp is selling for half of what it ought to be. There's a good reason for that: reading corporate reports we learn the company has been viciously defamed as hosing CSAM, and is gearing up for a lawsuit. But we expect it to win and increase its share price, so we put our money in it, expecting to turn a little profit.

The reason this is difficult to do today is because every investor on Wall Street has read Graham's work and is looking for these bargains. The more people looking, the harder they become to find.

I've noted before that a lot of his futurism talk is more about his nostalgia for the past than actual advancement. He wants to return to the past (specifically his childhood) because it was the last he was probably somewhat happy in his throughly miserable life.

He knows however that the clock can't be rolled back, so he just frames it as a molding the future back into the glory days.

Hmmm... who are the people making information more cloistered on the internet?

Mr. Media Expert here fails to understand how the business has evolved and changed over the years. Podcasts didn't "save" radio, they replaced it (though radio still exists and likely isn't going anywhere, so did it need saving?). Streaming didn't "save" TV, it replaced it (at least until the ridiculous fragmentation made people start getting rid of that too). Social media...okay, that was always fake and gay, I'll give him that. But the internet has enabled all kinds of information exchange, it's not the technology's fault that people have been conditioned into using it to confirm their own biases. And AI will indeed enable people to pursue their creative passions in new ways, same as any new technology. Yes, there will be a "handful of new top guys" that strike it big, but that's been true of entertainment since the dawn of man.

Point is, the world continues to change, and no amount of stamping your feet and throwing a tantrum will change that. You may not like the direction it's going, but you also can't keep things in stasis forever. The 20th Century is long behind us, Bob, get over it.

Bobby tut-tuts people for browsing Wikipedia and pretending they have seen the movie -- but he approves of doing so for video games. He also approves of multitasking (such as as owning subhumanoids on Twitter) while watching a movie, so much for respecting "the Artists".

I'd like to remind everyone that Bob threw a bitchfit about Drinker tweeting in the middle of (I believe) The Marvels. But of course, that's because Drinker is a subhumanoid chud that dared to disrespect the greatest film of all time.
