Tim Burton's Mars Attacks!.

The reason why Mars Attacks! seems right wing to an extent is because the original source material was absolutely gung-ho pro-military.

The Martians were not defeated by Yodeling Andy but by hard-bitten US marines and other military men in the trading card version. Tim Burton, being an effete coffee-house revolutionary, did his best to make the US military look like a joke in the movie. However, he didn't change the threat that the Martians posed and to the film's credit did mock the idea of a peaceful approach to dealing with them.

There are redeeming qualities to Burton's movie. The Martians are purely evil creatures with no redeeming qualities. The hippies, the pacifist president and his team of advisors wanting to make friends with pure evil is played off for humor. Almost every scene of the Martians doing stuff is fun to watch. However, it's best to see that Burton twisted the source material for his own ends.

As to Bob's commentary. I don't think it ever occurs to Bob that it was the fact that Burton disliked the military that was why it was "all humans but the cool non-conformist types are bad" because I don't think mister film critic Bob did any serious research on the movie.

It's patently obvious that audiences don't have the same enthusiasm, and even if there is a dead cat bounce with Deadpool 3, that's not likely to reverse the trend. Capeshit has had nearly a thirty-year run, it's understandable that people are just kind of tired of it at this point, and as much as you and Disney alike want it to go on forever, general audiences simply aren't turning out for something just because it's capeshit. If they do, it'll either be because it's a standalone property or because it has a character they like, preferably both.

Okay, I know I just got onto Bob about being cringe, but heaven help me, I'm going to reference anime of all things in rebuttal. I'll put it in a spoiler if you don't want to deal with that (and I'll also be spoiling the ending of the series), but I'll summarize it after.

Spoiler: sperging about dreams through Gundam X

So I just finished watching After War Gundam X (very entertaining, worth a watch), and one of the major themes of the story is the nature of Newtypes, psychically-gifted humans, and what they mean for humanity. Another is the nature of fate and whether it can be changed, with multiple current and former Newtypes seeing visions of the future, good and bad.

This eventually comes to a head at the end of the story when the protagonists and the leaders of the two main enemy factions meet the first Newtype, dissected and turned into an AI that runs a derelict moon base, and he basically lays out the truth for all of them: Newtypes are nothing special, they're not some next step in evolution for humanity, they're just random mutations. Furthermore, visions of the future mean nothing if you don't do anything to put them into motion, as emphasized by the main protagonist Garrod. Throughout the series, every time he's been told that things are going to play out a certain way, he blatantly refuses and works to make sure it doesn't happen, and he does this without Newtype powers.

This is basically what based black man is getting at. Yeah, it's great to dream big and all, but at some point, you need to grapple with reality. To date, only 45 men have been elected president in a country that has had hundreds of millions of citizens over its history, so your odds are pretty low. Maybe you can work your ass off and get elected, but the odds aren't in your favor, especially considering that you pretty much always need to be from money to get to the top of any field. Maybe there's a better way of phrasing it that doesn't sound like "fuck you your dreams suck," but the lesson is there: be practical.

tl;dr: Dreams are meaningless if you don't put them into action.

And where does that leave Bobby, anyway? This balding fat retard is now 43 years old, has had dreams of being in the film industry for decades now, and has made exactly zero headway towards making that a reality. He legitimately believes that success is owed to him solely for having the right opinions, but he just can't wrap his head around the fact that that's not how the world works. The chuds he hates are finding success because they're actually putting in effort, and all he's doing is angrily tweeting into the wee hours of the morning. A fitting fate, honestly.
