I just figured out what really fascinates me about Cinema Robert.

Most lolcows have some kind of spectacular self-destruction (Ethan Ralph), melt down regularly (Bossmanjack), or are just out-and-out retarded in the funniest way (Russell Greer). Robert is none of those things. By his surface xeets alone, he is indistinguishable from the thousands of other leftist idiots parading around Xitter.

Yet, when you look deeper, you're looking into the life of a man with deep mental retardation, a man who never grew up emotionally, and whose immaturity actively sabotages his own life.

He has never matured. A mature man looks at Disney and says ,"Whelp, time to move on, I'm too old for this." Robert looks at Disney and sees the sparkly company that so impressed him thirty years ago. He picks Xitter fights over the stupidest of things, while a mature man would walk away. He hides in his mom's house behind a block button because he can't handle real life. He refuses to move beyond schoolyard notions of good and evil; his mind, for whatever reason, has been stunted. He refused to engage emotionally with his grandma's death. By every account, like Peter Pan, he has never grown up.

And unlike Peter Pan, who lives happily in Neverland avoiding the consequences of his actions, Robert's refusal to man up has cost him everything. He failed to capitalize on YouTube back in the day. His arrogance and anger issues cost him his job several times. His increasing irrelevancy and his boy Biden are costing him his Patreon. His lack of impulse control is costing him his health and body. He ended up back with his parents due to his own stupidity.

I guess what I'm saying is what fascinates me about Robert is his self-imposed collapse. His fall is self-destruction in its purest, most immature form. He has made his bed, and refuses to acknowledge that he's lying in it. It reminds me of CS Lewis's book The Great Divorce. One of the characters talks about how Napoleon Bonaparte is in Hell, pacing around and blaming everyone for his failures. That's Robert: sitting in his mother's house, hunched over a phone, scrolling through Xitter, muttering to himself, "It's those teachers' fault. It's Trump's fault. It's the fault of the chuds. It's the fault of the gamers. It's the fault of the Believers. It's the fault of the Republicans."

We keep saying his crime and punishment is being Robert Chipman, and I think with every xeet we get another glimpse into the hell Bob has made for himself. It's fascinating.

He's been able to get a backup PC or set up a recovery program for more than a decade now, but there are two issues with that: He doesn't believe in investing in his own business, and he's retarded when it comes to computers.

He began doing Youtube and trying to make videos a career in 2008, on his old family PC in the living room after everyone went to bed. It's part of the reason he's quieter in the old videos, he was trying to not wake anyone up. He then got picked up by Screw Attack and Escapist... and still used that method until he had to buy his own rig when he moved out in 2012. For four years, rather than invest in a new computer he could put in his own bedroom and work on videos, which he was being paid to do, or save up his money to move out and into his own place, he wasted it all on Mario figurines and McDonald's. After buying that rig, he did not upgrade it, nor purchase a backup PC, at any point. In fact I'm pretty sure that's still the one he's using, unless someone bought him something.

At this point, a fucking magnet could completely wipe out the entirety of Moviebob Productions in one go, and he doesn't see a problem with that.
