I wonder how much of this rage from Bob is a performance. I saw the ad before I realized there was going to be backlash to the ad. I thought after I saw the ad, "Oh, I get it." I wasn't particularly impressed though. I figured it was all created on a computer. If they actually did destroy a bunch of stuff, well, it was their stuff I suppose. (Odd thing for an "environmentally sensitive" company to do for an ad, but not really surprising is it?)

The Oldsmobile Aurora ad did not sink Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile already had some issues occurring before they launched the Aurora. They were already losing footing in the car market thanks to increase competition. Especially from foreign made cars. If anything, some of their redesigns in the mid-90s like the Aurora actually helped increase sales for the remainder of the decade. It unfortunately just wasn't enough to save them in the end.

A LOT of GM cars (I'm looking at YOU, Buick) had electrical issues back then. Oldsmobile was no different. People would rather have a Honda or Toyota that didn't fuck them over in the electrical department than a piece of shit US made car like a GM or a fucking Ford - which famously catch on fire randomly more frequently than a fucking Tesla.
