Tread is not even that good of a documentary. @Flexo shared a video from The Lore Lodge that went over the Killdozer and Tread that I highly recommend watching or listening too. Hell, even Null talked about it on this past Tuesday's MATI. Aiden found some very weird inconsistencies between the documentary, the book Killdozer which was written by local reporter Patrick Broer, and what Patrick Broer had reported immediately following the rampage. The short of it is Pat was tipping the scales in his and the other people's favor by either lying or very tactful omission of certain details. Bob might have saw them too if he cared enough about what he does instead of just lazily shoveling shit in his audience's face. Marv was fucked over by old money and the little emperors of Granby and did everything reasonable before he did something unreasonable. Bob has never owned anything nor had to fight for what he has. Because of that Marvin and the ride of the Killdozer is completely alien to him so Bob has to describe him in the only he can: An angry and privileged white man throwing an angry and privileged white man tantrum.

It also bears repeating that Marvin built an indestructible tank, outfitted with firearms, and yet the only person he killed was himself. Marvin was not trying to kill anyone. They need to make Marvin into a crazed monster so they will always say that he tried or that was his goal, something that anyone who actually looks at what happened can see that's not what happened.

The "Fire In Space" episode of OG 1978 Battlestar Galactica is one I've seen many times. The fire was started by Cylon raiders deliberately crashing into one of the Galactica's landing bays. Being a spaceship with people on it, it had oxygen which fed the fire. It is only extinguished after they decompress the affected parts of the ship. Not sure why they didn't have proper fire suppression tech like the USS Enterprise D (see: Up The Long Ladder) but eh, maybe so plot can happen? Bob truly is ignorant. He doesn't understand the difference between something that cannot happen, and something that doesn't exist (but possibly COULD, theoretically, evolution after all) - or he just doesn't care.

Part of my problem with this is that just because he only killed himself doesn't mean he didn't intend to kill others. He obviously had firearms on board and more than one bullet, plus days worth of food and water rations indicating it was going to be a much longer ordeal. He also had no idea whether or not all those buildings had people in it, and he also reportedly almost ran over some children during the ordeal.

A controversial take that is probably going to get bombarded with negative reaction scores, but I am one of the few Kiwis that feels that the whole Killdozer worship is a little dumb. Regardless whether or not he was legitimately screwed over, the guy comes across as a school shooter type. People only like it because of the whole armored bulldozer thing and because it is a safe way for them to worship their misanthropic fantasies.

Bob obviously though doesn't dislike Marvin for the right reasons. He is more angry that people he hates like him, and that he can't live out his sociopathic fantasies the way that Marvin did.
