Note that he said "all their recent flops," not "their latest flop." Pixar's movies have not been making money for quite some time, which admittedly is partly due to the coof, yet even when they did theatrical re-releases of the straight-to-D+ movies recently, nobody went to see them. Turning Red only made $20 million in the international markets in its initial release and $1.4 million domestic in its re-release, making it an absolute flop by any metric.

And note that pre-coof, Pixar was routinely making close to if not over a billion dollars per movie. Only The Good Dinosaur and Cars 3 were flops at under $400 million global, and before that you had to go back to Brave in 2012 for a movie that barely cleared $500 million. Elemental didn't even reach that mark, and its higher budget meant it made less money as a result. And especially when compared to Spider-Verse 2 (~$700 million) and the Mario movie ($1.3 billion), it definitely didn't do well.

The lesson from Inside Out 2 doing well is that if you make something that people think looks good, chances are they'll want to go see it (that and proven IP still gets butts in seats). Most of Pixar's output lately has looked like shit, so they flopped. It's really that simple.

To answer Bob's question: Saban didn't get into trouble as far as we know because they weren't "advertising" merchandise. They were using toys as props. You might ask what the difference is, but in the context of the show Power Rangers the toys were meant to be giant robots and not actual toys themselves.

The SpongeBob thing is different because the props they were using were supposed to serve as merchandise in the context of what the scene was meant to illustrate. Saban would have faced legal problems if they were using a real life piece of Power Rangers merchandise as a stand in for merchandise on the show.

Bob never learned Greek or Hebrew, so he doesn't actually know shit about shit about what the Bible "really" says. Bob shares many traits of the "Fundy Atheist", including being brought up in the church but rejecting the faith, having an understanding of the Bible that hasn't changed since Sunday School/Catholic School, not understanding what Faith ACTUALLY IS, and using "Argument from Outrage" - a logical fallacy akin to Argument from Incredulity, and Bob being full of anger so this tracks, like "x thing happened in the Bible, therefore the Bible is a) condoning x and/or b) The Bible is Bad." What does "5 products" mean?

I had to disable uBlock for this (I paused the ad before the video started but I may have gotten Bob a penny; my sacrifice for the thread):


At first I thought it was how Bob finally decided to sell whatever he was alluding to the other day, but no, it's just a YouTube affiliate program. Seems like he's trying to start up another revenue stream, but somehow I doubt it's going to go anywhere.

It's hard to find a general estimate here, but it looks like affiliate links tend to give about a 10% commission, so we'll use that number. That means that Bob would get $2 bucks for the toys or $4 for the Blu-ray...except for the fact that YouTube takes nearly 40% of your commission themselves, so it's closer to $1.20 and $2.40 respectively. Bob's videos tend around 20k views on average, and very few of them are likely going to buy any of these items. I'll be generous and say maybe 100 people tops, and we'll simplify and say that they evenly buy the cheaper and more expensive items so it averages out nicely. That comes out to just under $200, which isn't terrible when added to regular adbux and his Patreon...but remember, I was being very generous here, and I think the actual number would be closer to the low double digits. Not many people need to buy a copy of Monsters, Inc., after all.

Real big-brained move of him to insert an affiliate link to an out-of-stock item, especially since it was the most relevant to his video.

The actual plot and character development is still entertaining and keeps me engaged, and the humor is still frequently on point, but a lot of the "satire" is just Seth Rogen putting up as many conservative and Christian strawmen as he can and going "dude haha look at how stupid they are hahaha *hits bong* hahaha." It doesn't offend me because it's so incredibly stupid; I just roll my eyes and wait for him to put his dick away and get back to the show.

Of course Bobby thinks this is absolute genius writing, because Bobby too lives in a bubble where he can blame the Mayo Ghouls for all the world's problems, but mostly his own.
