This has to be one of the most retarded things I ever saw Robert say.
First, I think McCracken is full of shit, maybe he is butt hurt he had to deal with a bunch of execs on his neck, but to reason why you need more storyboard panels to get less notes from the suits is dumb, the suits only care if they are getting the idea in a compeling and visual way, and I don't know what the fuck is he even talking about about "make it" before it is aproved, because, not to power level much here, I did work on some animated pitches before (don't worry, none of them got to be made) and the thing is, it is expected to at least have a couple of minutes with a vertical slice, meaning a full fledged animation to showcase the entirety of the production's objective with the project.
Actually it is a rather common practice to have people to set aside their regular work on studios to produce said vertical slice on the side for the next project. It is a bit of a hush hush thing, since people are being paid with money from networks to work on another show, and it can create overwork stress, but that is how studios survive.
But Robert's retardation is on another level. For all the pose of being a industry insider, he thinks the "elevator pitch" is a real thing, that some silver tongue producer can just bust a deal worth millions with just 25 words, Don Simpson style.
Yeah, that was always bullshit cocktail stories, in reality when you see people talking production, you have even acomplished directors and producers shitting bricks because they already invested a bunch of money on script, concept art and even early footage to get the deal done. Even George Lucas, after Star Wars and with Spilberg at his side, had to pitch Indiana Jones with a complete script and concept art, and he got a bunch of "no"s before Paramount said yes.
The idea behind the concept of "elevator pitch" that writers like to use is to check how consice and easy to understad their story are, if you can't get the gist of a tale without hours of explaination, then you most likely have a nonsense mess. But you will never have a movie deal with X meets Y with popular actor in the lead.
So what the fuck is Robert even bitching about executives being "business bro" instead of his beloved "creatives" that can't conceive a movie over some spitball bullshit. What the fuck do you even know about from you mother's house Robert?
Seriouly, where does he get this bullshit from?
