In the United States, anime is a marketing term for Japanese cartoon, and manga is the same for Japanese comic. It used to be that these were considered foreign and niche. He has some vague awareness lots of money is floating around but has not clue how it actually moves. He thinks companies are not beholden to anyone and that media execs can just fail indefinitely and have no recourse. This is right up there with his idea that Mcdonalds can just give out fast food for free if they wanted.
His appeals for people to sympathize with the workers is insultingly disingenuous. This is a cudgel he is using to assume the moral high ground, not one of his non existent principles. In no time he will be celebrating the death of some production based purely on who liked it. He will see no contradiction in this because its not based on logic, principles or anything other than his own impotent rage.

Finally his insistence that "fans" mindlessly get in line for whatever shit is presented to them is so dumb, I don't really no where to start or even if I need to. You can piss off fans, it even happens in sports. People have been happy to see shitty coaches leave so they can get a fresh start, and I don't see any difference between that and watching Acolyte fall in to the trash bin.
I've never been super invested in star wars, but between the clone wars cartoon and some of the stuff from the EU I know about, I see its potential and feel bad for those who are watching it flushed down the drain. People don't deserve to be have shit shoveled in front of them and to then get told of for being entitled when they don't sit and eat it. Art has always been needed to be patronized throughout history and the demands of said patrons matter more than the artists personal choices or life circumstances. Make shit no one wants to pay for, then you don't get to waste other peoples money to make it.
