Fans are not blind sheep that willingly show up every single time without fail. They're the ones who care the most about quality, and they're the ones who get others excited through their own excitement. The general audience is just there for a good time. Sure, sometimes you can surprise fans with something they didn't know they wanted, but that's different from actively telling them to go fuck themselves. You keep shitting on fans over and over, and eventually they'll leave. Only blind consoomers like Bobbo will continue to engage with a product that hates them.

If fans are so unimportant, then why has Star Wars failed miserably ever since Disney took over? They had a pretty strong start giving fans what they wanted (even if it was ultimately in a hollow and vapid way, in retrospect), then Roundhead took a gigantic dump on the fans and tanked the brand completely. Rather than course correct, they keep doubling down on telling the fans to go fuck themselves. Addendum to 03Oct#31, about the status of AI art and artists who make derivative works.

Bob's attempts to opine about the arts are about as laughable as his discussions about politics.

Art by definition requires an artist to produce. Like, that's such a basic fact that it's mind-boggling he manages to get even that wrong. You can argue that Roy Lichenstein didn't come up with the original ideas for his comic reproductions, but he still transformed them into new works of art by putting them in an entirely different context, and he is thus an artist. Hell, that was pretty much the entire pop art movement, challenging conventional standards and making people reexamine what art is (see also Duchamp's Fountain mentioned earlier). In much the same way, AI art is producing new imagery from a blend of thousands or millions of images, and the creative impulses behind it are no less genuine just because someone is using a computer program instead of a pencil and paper.

All culture is just recycling what came before it. There really is nothing new under the sun.

Every place I hanged out as a kid exist for kids and teens today.

When you're a kid it's simple you just go outside. Teen years go to a theatre and the Mall or a pool/park or amusement park if your city has one in the summer.

A few places I went to have shut down or been revamped, but there are still plenty of options for kids to go outside and hang out in playgrounds, malls, or even just a friend's house. The kids don't go out because they have ipads and phones to keep them occupied, so they don't get bored at home like we used to. Also, there's a huge component of 'stranger danger' these days that means a parent always needs to be around supervising, so the parents don't just let their kids go out and play. Then when they get older, the teens are so used to staying indoors that they do.
