Fatigue has crept to horror movies; soon there will be a complete Hollywood fatigue.

Fatigue is like a codeword for too many bad movies in a particular genre. Horror movies have always been surprisingly cheap to make, which means that indie film makers can make them and be experimental with them. While there are certainly cheaper genres, the problem is those cheaper genres tend to be stuff like mumblecore which lacks mainstream appeal.

With something like superhero movies, you have to spend money on special effects. Recently we had an el cheapo horror movie where the expenses were some clown makeup and some butcher meat that out did the more expensive Joker 2 (a film that was, itself, less expensive than most Hollywood superhero movies). Now, I don't think it's a movie I'd like, but horror movies can reinvent themselves with stuff like Halloween or Night of the Living Dead every few years.
