He also in the real world would have had pretty good health insurance as a teacher, my mom was a teacher around the time the show was set, and for how crap her salary was, her benefits were absolutely nuts. Hm, somehow I doubt that Bobby hasn't lived surrounded by whites. Per this table, the racial demographics from Lynn, MA show that the city was still majority white through 2000, when Bob was already an adult. It was still near majority white in 2010 as well.
