The truth is even more bizarre. The FBI got involved because they didn't just find Gabby's body, they found Brian's as well and they both died at the same time. They are keeping it quiet because they are still trying to figure out who/what drove the van back and why the parents thought it was Brian.

Usually, and there are exceptions, intimate partner murders are the result of one partner who is controlling of the other losing, or perceiving to lose, control of the other. The idea of people killing their partner in fits of rage is a myth, insofar as how common it is - it's fairly rare for this to occur, and is usually just the bullshit explanation the defense spin to try and plead down the sentence.
The term influencer™ makes me fucking gag. It's a term invented, used, and spread by narcists who think they're more important than they actually are. But I digress, Brian is the most likely suspect but it's also possible that both were murdered though that's less likely.
