If you were a boomer making $65k year for 35 years, you paid in about $175k ($5k/year x 35 years). If no SS and that boomer had invested every penny, a relatively strong but not crazy longterm rate of return (consistent 7%), would have meant they'd have had $1.2M, which, assuming 0% growth after 35 years, is $5k/ month for 20 years, or $4k/ month for 25 years, or $3333/ month for 30 years (5.43% of Americans live to 97, if you want to count from 67). But they get $2k. Say again why that's greedy
Because the whole system is insolvent as soon as the working population gets smaller than the withdrawing population.

They either needed to abort fewer of their own children or revamp the system so that every generation paid for themselves. By the time boomer women were infertile they should have done something other than kicking the can down the road.

I knew at 25 I would never recieve any money I paid in because the system can not work with low fertility rates. Why couldn't they realize it at 50 or now?

They are not wise.

The musician Sting is peak boomer, if this hasn't been posted already.
Doesn't it say something about your own parenting if your kids can't use exorbitant wealth responsibly? Or at the very least perceive it that way?
One thing I haven't seen talked about much here is how much Gen Xers are starting to behave exactly like their Boomer parents/siblings.
They can honestly be just as bad as boomers.
Boomer parents often watched inappropriate things right in front of us growing up
I remember as a kid, my parents had no issue with me watching Full Metal Jacket, South Park, and all manner of horror movies. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's made this observation.

Another tale from my boomer dad

Apparently he didn't like how loose the cable internet line was hanging from the telephone pole so took it upon himself to "fix" it. Between whatever he did and a few storms that rolled through, it became slightly disconnected and caused random outages.

Of course, I don't know any of this at the time. I have to go over there and call Comcast and try to figure out WTF the issue is. They send out a tech and I show up only to find my dad standing around, watching the guy REPLACE the loose lines (he told me the lines were like 18 years old at this point and he might as well do it while he was there), and just going on and on about "making sure the line isn't loose" and other weird boomer shit.

Honestly, most techs probably wouldn't go to the trouble of replacing the whole line and my dad still had to stand around annoying the guy being an insufferable dipshit about "loose cable".

I don’t watch TV, I have DVDs and will watch YouTube on the TV but I don’t watch actual TV broadcasts
We are the same. My wife and I have literally not watched broadcast television since around 2012. - Guess who wasn't fearful of the "Pandemic" and didn't get the Clot Shot? It's amazing what not having Fear Porn broadcast into your house does for your ability to see what's actually happening around you v.s. what the government claims.
I don't watch sport or "news", so I have zero need for television.
My Boomer parents on the other hand, particularly my mother, for some reason, believe absolutely everything journalists tell them. It's like they think journalists are legally bound to be truthful.

Boomers can be up to 15 points lower in IQ than the generations that came after.
Boomers with an IQ of 100 in 1950 would have an IQ of 85 today and those with an IQ of 115 would be 100 today.
A large chunk of the boomer population would have an IQ on par with the mentally disabled.
They're the last generation to have serious exposure to lead poisoning, so that's not surprising.

Boomer parents often watched inappropriate things right in front of us growing up - I excuse it because back then, if you didn’t have cable, you kind of watched whatever was on prime time tv (obviously they didn’t have to watch TV at dinner but I digress). But go to any forum or channel discussing bad grandparenting and you will see story after story of grandparents intentionally putting on shows that are not appropriate for grandkids, millennial parents trying to set boundaries around it, and the boomer grandparents intentionally stomp all over that boundary. Powerlevel, but a simple “No Family Guy in front of the 6 year old please” didn’t seem to make sense to my parents. Yet if you dare mention Hansel and Gretel in front of them, you’ll get a whole “stand up comedy” routine about “How is that for kids?” (Insert laugh track which exists only in the mind of a boomer Here).

Boomers seem to go to the extremes of either allowing their children to watch inappropriate stuff, or being overly protective to absurd extremes. There's no middle ground.

They have their priorities totally mixed up, and for all their years have gained really no wisdom, but again, their parents were alcoholic wife-beaters who basically let them run the streets, Lord of the Flies style, with zero oversight, then forced them to dress real nice and go to church. It was bound to fuck them up mentally.
Moral Orel is literally just a documentary about a Boomer kid growing up in the suburbs.
May as well contribute.
Behold: The Flynn Effect.

An average of 85 IQ certainly explains why their behavior is so similar to niggardry.

There are about a hundred different future crises caused by various government policies that are easy to see coming, but I'm still powerless to do anything about it. I'm gonna be pretty pissed if future generations blame me for "kicking the can down the road".

Reddit doesn't actually hate boomers anymore, because the site's userbase is primarily millennials who freaked out over Covid because they didn't want their boomer parents to die
2019:
Millennials: uh I guess I don’t care for boomers.
Zoomers: I fucking hate boomers.

2020:
Millennials: MASK UP AND VAX UP OR YOU’LL KILL GRANDMA!
Zoomers: I fucking hate boomers.

2026:
Millennials: look they might have irreparably ruined our political, financial, and governmental systems, but they deserve to live just like anyone else!
Zoomers: I fucking hate boomers and want them dead.

The boomers bought the computers but it was us that learned how to actually use them
I watched people use the computer and memorized commands then when nobody was watching me i fucked around
Boomers teaching people about a computer is laughable.
I'm not going to question your "we wuz inventing everythin ourselves n sheeit" journey and I do realize this is the specific boomer hate thread, so some exaggeration is both warranted and entertaining.

But e.g. Steve Wozniak and Richard Stallman are both boomers. Both are more responsible for your access to personal computing than you are yourself, both literally and figuratively. You probably don't realize you've been taught by them. It's a real illusion of the ego that after reading a book, an article or a manual, your brain tells itself that it discovered by itself the information it has been given. However, the thread is going just a tad full hotep in this attempt to craft a mythology where boomers just brought home computers which were spawned from some kind of ether, and then gen X and Y spontaneously discovered how these alien artifacts work and started the computer age. It's a nigger thing to do, but by all means keep it up.

Saw today that boomers want to eliminate property tax and put the burden on income tax.
Fuck you, you old fucks.
Why does that make you mad? Why would you want to perpetually rent your property from the government? Property taxes are gay and British.
I believe it comes from WW1 and WW2. When boomers were children WW1 vets were their grand parents, WW2 vets were their parents. These were great people, worthy of the ultimate respect for going through those wars. Incredible people who 100% deserved to be treated well.

The problem is the boomers as kids just saw that as treating your elders with respect. When they got old they believe they are worthy of the same respect without ever going through what they did.
So Vietnam didn't happen, I guess.

Something I don't understand about this whole Zoomers hating Boomers shit is why would they? In what way do Zoomers and Boomers even cross paths? I find it hard to believe the braindead doom-scroll generation has any real awareness of Boomers.

Boomers are the first ones I've heard say "I'll be dead then and it'll be your problem, I don't care." Also the Silent Generation.
Voted to ruin my country in most capacities. Doesn't understand the modern job search or market at all. Totally oblivious to the social aspect of being young and unable to make enough money.
They can't use computers and shit up the self-serve registers at the market. They can't drive for shit, but that might be independent of generation.
All of the problems even extend to the ones in your family. They're too retarded. You tell them something is a scam, a super common template one, and they just go for it anyway. They just shit money to pakis and indians. They love that shit. They're totally infallible, could never get anything wrong. That's why we have to get rid of social security. They should all suffer for their retardation, on top of neutering the ability of the young to support themselves. They lived through some of the best stock markets in the last century and still manage to come out on the bottom. Truly the niggers of aging, the elderly.

I've even seen the boomers buy their high school kids cigarettes and weed, and then their only son dies of a heart attack after smoking meth before he's even 22.
My father is an extreme example of this, even for boomers, but I beat him at a board game when I was a child and he stopped doing any activities with me completely. To this day the only activity he will engage in with me is going on his daily walk.

My dad is really silent generation but I've seen boomers behave the same way. Something about not always winning breaks their mind. It would be sad if they hadn't buttfucked the entire country with that mentality.
I've seen this exact thing with a silent generation family member. Won't even play board or card games with his grandkids because of it lmao.
I believe there's a new catfishing scheme going on where boomer males are manipulated by "women" to buy gift cards for them. It's always, "I bought $100 for a friend/lady/relative," but the card doesn't work. They're really gullible to think that prepaid gift cards can be used to pay bills or bail them out of jail. I put "women" in quotes because I'm sure that it's somebody with a voice changer. Maybe they ARE gold diggers.
That's a classic one, always going on. Most of the suckers will even keep going for it, but with a different "face" for the benefactor each time.

Why does that make you mad? Why would you want to perpetually rent your property from the government? Property taxes are gay and British.
Is this bait?
Boomers profited from low income tax and could afford housing. Now that they no longer pay income tax but get taxed on their property, they want to abolish property tax and dump the burden on the working population. Most of whom will never be able to own said housing.

You can't hate them enough.

Dude what is this psy op? So many celebs are saying they are not leaving their kids anything - Jeff Goldblum (who is almost 80 with single digit children), Gordon Ramsey, Ashton Kutcher, Oliver Tree (didn't shit out kids before he died, thank god), Mila Kunis, Simon Cowell, Anderson Cooper (who is a fucking VANDERBILT btw), Jackie Chan, Marie Osmond, George Lopez, Akon, Warren Buffet, Kevin O Leary, Michael Bloomberg, Steve Job's wife, and more.

I really don't know how any rational person would think leaving their wealth to NGOs and charities is a good idea considering these organizations are 10% charity 90% money laundering. It also goes to show how these people (many of them boomers) have no theory of mind. Yes, they worked hard, but they also had a lot of luck to get into the positions they got into. Expecting their children to have that right kind of work ethic + luck is asinine. I can't imagine growing up in upper upper class privilege and then my parents just pull the rug out when I'm an adult. TBH I'd probably just start pulling cash from their wallets and selling their expensive crap they won't notice.

It's also worth noting that many of these celebrities cite massive wealth as being a burden, Sting said "an albatross around their neck." These people really see having mansions and flying private as burdens. They are sick in the head. They've twisted their entire world to convince themselves that they are the ones who really struggle, even living like kings. Sick shit.

I remember as a kid, my parents had no issue with me watching Full Metal Jacket, South Park, and all manner of horror movies.
This is honestly blowing my mind; I didn't think of how many of us were totally exposed to all manner of media. My parents had no rules for TV/movies as a kid. I remember watching Silence of the Lambs as a kid and lmfaod when Buffalo Bill tucked his penis between his legs. Why were they like this?

My wife and I have literally not watched broadcast television since around 2012. - Guess who wasn't fearful of the "Pandemic" and didn't get the Clot Shot? It's amazing what not having Fear Porn broadcast into your house does for your ability to see what's actually happening around you v.s. what the government claims.
I've had the same thought. What if you just didn't watch TV, read the news, keep up with current events? Like would your life be any worse? Would you have actually missed out on crucial information that would hold you back? No, you'd actually have been markedly better off.

I actually didn't have a TV before I got married. I preferred the focus of the house be on conversation when guests came over. And I find I almost never used it when I did have one. I hate how the TV is the focus of the primary gathering room in almost every house. Yes, my boomer parents thought this was downright horrifying.

Early 1980s here, and I, too, share the similar frustration of being in a transitional period between generations.

I spent K-12 going to school with people born in the 1970s, have friends born in the 1970s, and generally share a lot more in common with people born in the 1970s than people born even a few years later than me. But according to the "experts," I am not the same generation as them (Gen X). Nope, I am the same generation as the child who was four years-old when 9/11 happened while I was in college (Millennials). The "experts" expect me to identify with Millennial four year-olds and not the similarly-aged Gen X.

I feel generationally "homeless" and always wondered if the other generations in transitional periods, i.e. late Boomers/early Gen X in your case, felt the same way. You answered my question. Thank you for sharing. I'm curious to hear any further thoughts you might have on being stuck in this generational transition zone.

In my case, I refuse to call myself or identify with the generational label I've been assigned ("Millennial"). I recommend you do the same. You don't have to identify with, defend, or feel any attachment to the Boomers just because some shithead somewhere said you have to.

Thread tax: Fuck the Boomer who came up with these awful and inaccurate generational labels.
Agreed. The reason I hate Boomers so much is because: 1. They ruined Everything. 2. Because of their stupid generational pigeonholing, I who was born in 1961, get wrongly lumped into their stupid fucking demographic even though I have absolutely NOTHING in common with someone who was born between 1946 and 1956.

This thread is full of people who want Boomers to die explicitly so they can take their houses, but simultaneously pessimistically accepts the idea they'll never own a home.

Let's say you did get your own house, do you like the idea of paying land rent forever?

This is the kind of logic you get when you forego any possibility of succeeding in life and only think of how to spite the more fortunate, a very Indian way of thinking.

I still remember the time when I was a really young lad, when my dad took the family to an R rated movie without realizing until my mom asked this asian guy right next to us what the movie was rated.

With how spiteful some boomers are I'm surprised they haven't started mass-launching their corpses into space as a final "fuck you got mine" to prevent nature from reclaiming their nutrients.
When I die, I'm going to have my body vacuum sealed in a giant plastic bag just for this reason.

"Fuck you, nature. These fats and proteins are mine!"
I'm glad boomers will be dead a whole lot sooner than I will.
