Boomer Hate Thread

Aren't the boomers the peak of consumerism? As an older Gen Z I prefer to gain happiness from experiences rather than products, I've heard most of Gen Z is like that.
consumerism used to actually get you cool products and new tech like flat screen tv, comfy cars and good consoles, now all it gets you is more debt slavery over throwaway products made in the deepest depths of china that break after 6 months of use

You are either an ultra-austere person saving thousands every month
It's only hard to save money if you have no income or spend it like crazy. For the maybe 20% of the US population that doesn't apply to, money is as relevant to life's worries as an asteroid colliding with the earth.

consumerism used to actually get you cool products and new tech like flat screen tv, comfy cars and good consoles,
Those are all super cheap now, relatively speaking to the past. The new status symbol is owning a home away from diversity and a single income married household with children. Envy not the woman with Louis Vitton handbag. Envy the woman who can spend 5 years at home without bringing in a single penny raising her kids while her husband brings in enough money to allow a life of comfort.

Boomer worship.

i love boomers they have so much money and many computer and crypto issues to resolve. boomer customers are the best they are so nice.

my grandparents are peak consumers. about half of my memories of them are them sitting in front of the television. they are in their middle 70's.

I don't think that's even inherently the problem, its thinking that their stuff is actually valuable.
Many boomers are wowed by products in good condition with original packaging, and automatically assume that makes that stuff worth something. As an example, the average boomer, is far more wowed by a harbor freight wrench set with original box in good condition (like the ford pinto of tools) than a well used Snap-on set of wrenches (the mercedes benz of tools), despite the latter being worth substantially more. The value they see in their stuff is often based on very superficial elements
They assume something is valuable because they think it is valuable. This goes back to them thinking some mass produced “fine” china from 1959 is worth thousands of dollars because their depression-era parents bought it and only used it for dinner once a year. Only Boomers think that kind of stuff is worth something and are flabbergasted that zoomers who can’t afford a house don’t think that china set from 1959 is worth $5,000. Most boomer keepsakes in 20 years are going to end up in the landfill.

They're obsessed with being able to get lots of money out of anything and everything even when, or perhaps especially when, it doesn't make any sense.
And ESPECIALLY-ESPECIALLY if it simultaneously means the chance to own that thing/make money is removed from their own children/grandchildren.

Always remember: if two niggers broke into Boomer's house and he only had two shells in his shotgun, the Boomer would shoot his grandchild twice.

Another adventure of Cybertonia observes bad boomer behavior at the airport.

Start with arguing with the desk clerk to print out a paper ticket because their jitterbug flipphone can't open the digital boarding pass.

Next, see a wrinkly old couple fumble around in every single one of their bags and argue LOUDLY with his shrew wife right in the middle of the security queue because they can't find their passports.

Finish with the crusty old boomer sitting directly behind me who munches on chips as loud as humanly possible right the fuck in my fuckin ear, then proceeds to make old man grunts, farts, sighs and burps for 4 hours straight.

E for bonus I just remembered - cut right the fuck through the whole fuckin security line to march right up to the TSA and give them a firm handshake ask if you are allowed to bring a full water bottle through security, as if your ass hasn't gone through the airport since the 1990s.

It's honestly incredible these people haven't walked into a shoot on sight restricted access area yet.

What amazes me is how the boomers just refuse to fucking die; they are on an unhealthy diet and smoke and drink and somehow still made it in the 70s?

Granted they milk the medical system dry and squeeze tax money out of the population, but I want them to just die already so that they stop making retarded voting and financial decisions.

I have this weird feeling that this great inheritance that so many articles talk about, isn't going to happen. They'll probably do one last "fuck you" to the whole world and spend all their money so no one can enjoy what they got to enjoy.
Sorry buddy, you ain't seen shit of that money. Best case scenario, they take it to their graves like the Egyptian Pharaohs did.

But realistically it's going to some live forever snake oil or some live eternally as Ai scam. They'd take it with them if they could!

It flys in the face of all this organic, avoid chemicals rhetoric of today. Boomers spent their childhood dipped in lead and the rest of their lives eating garbage and somehow are doing fine. FFS look at Trump, dude is obese and addicted to mcdonalds and aspartame sodas and doing fine at 80, probably has at least ten years left.

People really should enter public domain at some point. I've seen the medical charts, caring for the elderly costs more than a newborn.

caring for the elderly costs more than a newborn.
It's the lion's share of the US federal budget. By contribution, the US is best described as a nursing home with a military and debt. You could fund almost anything conceivable just by killing welfare to the elderly. We could have an army of ICEbot androids roving around the country picking up illegals like a scene from war of the worlds but instead we have welfare. Granny is why you don't have autonomous tripod deportation robots.

You're only a newborn and toddler for 5 years. You can be elderly for nearly 30 years. Massive population that was never healthy to begin with, suddenly all elderly and needing more drugs and treatment to just stay alive (not get healthy), of course we're gonna never be able to fund anything beneficial.

Nobody should expect to get an inheritance from boomers. They fought their families tooth and nail to claw more inheritance from their relatives when their depression era parents died. But expecting them to pass anything along is entitlement. I’ve seen families get irreparably ruined because family members were at each other’s throats for what amounted to a few thousand bucks.

The Great Inheritance is a myth. Most of it is wishful thinking because it means boomers have not already blown through their retirements already. Plenty didn’t save at all, many did not save enough. There’s a shocking amount who are in their early-mid 70s who already are down to their last thousands, depending entirely on Social Security. Gone are the dreams of wasting money on golf resorts and cruises. Their depression era parents left them a few hundred thousand, all their kids are going to get is a bunch of junk that is a pain in the ass to get rid of.
