the #1 sin among them has to be them completely cratering normal mass culture for following generations. only a minority are implicated but that minority was deeply invested in the culture wars that have bootyraped day to day life, dating, pop culture, video games, shit even fashion, interior design, the internet in general, cringe/cancel culture (which is a direct descendent of their own self-deprecation) so much shit plus everything mentioned in the tumblr files thread, which is quite a good read. check it out

Any Gen X pre 1970 are basically boomers.
Similar attitudes to Boomers in some ways, in other ways not so much. They tend to trust mainstream news by default, but are also more open to "fringe" narratives. They like having "toys" like RVs and boats, but unlike boomers are sensible about it and put retirement savings first. Biggest difference is Gen X has zoomer kids, so they see firsthand how hard it is for younger people in all aspects (economy, relationships, etc) and are far less prone to condescension than boomers.
I actually blame the Gen Xer for the culture death. We've only been getting 80s nostalgia for what seems like 8 lifetimes now. It's the Gen X parents that got their Millenial kids into their interests. Gen X and Boomers have been having "I hate you daaad" contests since they popped into existence so when Xers had Millennials but went right back to hating Boom Boom Dad, the millenial kid had no real solid direction given to him so he just conformed to what was around him as to minimize conflict. Then Gen Z came along and went "wtf why are all the old people fighting each other" and now we have the current Gen Z. Alpha is gonna be a wild ride.

Most Gen Xers had Gen Z kids, though.

Was going to include something like this in my prior comment, but couldn't find the right words. This is very true also, Gen X is a relatively small generation to begin with because of abortion/contraception/boomers delaying having kids. Anecdotally it also seems from my POV to have the biggest gap between the successful ones and unsuccessful ones, basically if you are Gen X that hasn't died from drugs, you are either a broke retail wagie, or are upper middle class. Way fewer people in between compared to other generations.
Big line has to keep going up. They’d rather the houses sit vacant than cut the price and make them affordable again. Asset managers can make accounting and tax adjustments for vacant properties under the assumption that they will one day be occupied. Cutting prices by half conversely is money they believe they will be losing out over the long term.
They were too focused on work and boomer status symbols to actually raise their kids. They assumed that since their kids came from them that they’d be as successful as them.
With boomers having kids later, could that explain why there was a big surge and notice in autism with millennials?

Gen X are boomers who know enough to hate themselves.
Boomers often have both delusions and expectations of perfection. To them, if it isn't done right it isn't worth doing at all. This fucked up many of their kids who could have done something mid, but were expected to be doctors/lawyers. Their children effectively gave up on themselves because being a sober manager of a cricket wireless who lives in an apartment is as bad as being a crack head hobo in the eyes of their parents.
I think my favorite part of this video is this single frame of this gloating boomer.
