Bro it's insane!! At my bookstore, if you want to sell your books to us, we require a valid government issued picture ID. Our main customer base are Olds and the amount that drive here with either an extremely expired license or no license on them at all, is staggering. It's like Corpses think that when they turn a certain age, rules are beneath them because "muh old age".
In more Bookstore related Boomer Bullshit, they will somehow load up their entire car (brand new btw) with boxes of books to sell to us, and then ask for help unloading them (not unreasonable tbf), and then as we walk to their car to grab the boxes they will NOT shut up about "Boy it must be nice to be young..." and then go on to talk about how great they were in their youth. It's beyond irritating after the umpteenth time.
Also, just like their houses that they are expecting young folk to buy, they are expecting everyone to want their collection (hoard) of Faith(Grifter)-based literature and Christian Living books that haven't been touched since the early 00s. It's the only literature the vast majority of Olds bring us and we drown in it because a lot of it not strictly ScholarlyTheology-based, just doesn't ever sell. Except to other Olds.
EDIT: Not Boomer related but that blank stare, open-mouthed gaze you mentioned up there is also found in 40 IQ immigrants here in Minnesota that also go 30 in a 50 because they have no clue what's going on around them. Boomers and Immigrants really do share the same braincells and it explains so much tbh

The only reason why it’s not legal now is because late night talk show hosts like Jay Leno made fun of Jack Kevorkian in the 90s. The funny man on TV made fun of thing therefore it’s bad. This is the extent of the thought process. As you point out, suicide is a lot more normalized amongst people under 50. I wasn’t joking when I said MAID will be a thing within the next quarter century.

A family friend of ours would host a charity golf tournament for a friend of hers whose son had cancer and the organization they were with, eventually she stopped doing it for her because the parent was making it all about her towards the latter years. I remember at one of the tee boxes they kid was there (this was start of the back 9 so he was at the clubhouse) and he was telling me he was sick of all the attention. Kid had cancer when he was like 5-6, and now he was into his teen years and sick of it all, kid clearly hated being used.

Here's the thing though, Boomers have instilled this toxic hustle culture onto all of us. The influencer social media shit took their bullshit and turned it up to an 11. Younger generations don't want to break their backs, kiss potentially some fucktard's ass to get worthless promotions, or be this ultra-personality-sterile corporate slave working for crumbs. I hate that any sort of saving mechanism there is in this country, it's all geared to when you're rewarded as a geriatric. Getting ahead while young is getting increasingly impossible it seems, jobs are shit, pay is shit, and when pay is good, you're fucking taxed and raped by rent/bills. I'm not expecting young people to become millionaires overnight, but I'm expecting reasonable pay so that we aren't struggling and having to potentially go bankrupt trying to meet basic necessities. I know there are many opinions on the whole Gen Z entering the workforce and being problematic, but when a generation has grown up seeing all the bust your ass and be minimally rewarded bullshit that the other generations have gone through and reluctantly tolerated with that bullshit not being fixed, don't be surprised when they push back against it. Now, I'm not protecting the retards who think they should only do minimal work and be rewarded for it like they did something incredible, no, fire their asses, but the ones that do the job, do it well, and maintain their work, reward them properly, not "Oh here's $5 gift cards and some slices of pizza, because that's all we're allowed to provide since our managers took multi-million dollar bonuses in an embezzlement scheme and our shareholders told you to go fuck yourselves."
On the sterile personality, I remember sitting in a HR meeting for onboarding and this HR lady was only speaking in buzzwords, sharing articles of "teamwork" and "better work strategies," even though my job is night shift and sitting on my ass playing video games and answering the occasional work ticket. It makes you wonder what their personal life is and it's 100% an NPC life: A Facebook mom who is completely boring and does virtually nothing, meets her "girlfriends" for an overpriced Sunday brunch planned 4 months in advance, a corporate slave, and only consumes normie-slop for information and calls it critical thinking.

I hate those ones even more. Those are the ones that actively worked to destroy their children and created the hellscape of today. They're incapable of understanding that the US is a historically white country with a black minority and that they've been holding the gate open for infinite third worlders to shit up the place. I have found no demographic more eager to support DEI than old white boomers. They'll infantilize their children with messages of following their dreams and smother them with "love" to keep them from growing up. My grandmother died recently and all but 5k of her 200k or so estate was eaten up by nursing home/hospice/funeral expenses.
Unless your parents are at least at the multi millionaire level there is basically a zero percent chance you will see any inheritance whatsoever.

My boomer parents look at me like I'm insane when I tell them middle class families should put a few grand away for each kid each year throughout their childhood. They had the money. They just found increasingly bizarre ways to make it disappear in scams, pointless house expansions, going out to eat multiple times a week, etc. It's a myth that boomers will become susceptible to scams on account of old age. They've always been retarded and fall for the dumbest scams that fall apart with any inspection. Billy Graham holy bathwater would've been a hot commodity if he'd had the wherewithal to know his audience would eat it up.
And don't get me started on the hypocrisy of boomer mothers who had the finances to be a stay at home mom for a solid decade and only went back to work because they got bored of playing mom. Millennial/zoomer mothers are absolutely fucked 5 ways to Sunday being expected to balance early age childcare and a full time job. Hubby has to make at least 2x the local median wage to let her have a fraction of what her mother had.
Anyhow, so whenever you wonder why so many mid to upper class boomers have kids who seem broken, poor, or could never hack it in life, just remember that they went out of their way to put their kids in even worse positions than kids from actual poverty. Kids from impoverished families get a ton of federal support to go to college. Middle class kids are expected to get parental support (lol @ thinking boomers supported their kids). Boomers grew up in a time when a part time summer job paid for college tuition, a used car, and spending money, so they assumed that because nothing ever changes that their kids could do the exact same and be just fine.
I don't think I have to pull up the graph showing that housing, education, and health care have exploded in price way faster than wages have grown. Said boomers with various worms happily nesting in their brains saw their kids' failures and decided it must be the just consequence of some mistake. Thereafter, the failure kids either move back home to become a pet or fall into the lower class working food service jobs (super common for women with useless college degrees like I'm betting is true for OP's tweet).
Anyhow, even the "well-intentioned" boomers will never bail their kids out. They think reducing their child to a pet is helping them. That, or they get this bizarre notion that their struggling kids now approaching 40 is "happy" with their "life choices" and just sit back and watch the train wreck in progress. Expecting boomers not to take it all to the grave with them is absurd. They'll reverse mortgage the home in the last few years to cover medical expenses to make sure they can get the nice nursing home with genuine filipino nurses instead of angolan.
