My late grandmother on my dad's side was notoriously disgusting when it came to taste and food choices, would always insist on spiral ham or bland fucking ham for every Easter or Christmas meal. I would just refuse to eat it, because again, bland and gross, plus ham (and most pork) just doesn't agree with me

Oh god the fucking disgusting-ass ham. Anyone who lived through the depression that shit was like crack to them. Years ago when my grandma was still alive she threw a shit fit at my mom, because my dad had the audacity to serve beef on Christmas once.

Just a note, I love mashed potatoes too, but it needs warm milk and a bit of butter so it adds flavor and fluffiness. The thing boomers do is essentially take a bland baked potato and mash it as is. Another starchy side dish they always fuck up is rice. Maybe it's too oriental for them to get a grasp of? idk
It wasnt until i went to a friend's house for thanksgiving that i found out stuffing and mashed potatos even came in boxes. Compared to the friend, my family wss significantly poorer, but we still put in the effort to boil and mash potatos and toast bread for stuffing. It's not much more effort and its a world of difference.

As for rice, the post war culinary brainrot really was such a shame. Compared to asian countries ofc we as a nation ate less rice. But even so rice was a big part of the diet East of the Mississippi, and we even exported tons of it to Europe from places like the Carolinas (fascinating subject). We went from exporting so much rice we had our own Carolina subspecies, to boomers not understanding how to use a 1 button rice cooker, the west has fallen. Millions must relearn rice.

Free ham, the Jewish conundrum.

I grew up poor with boomer parents and ate alot of potatoes, and a lot of them mashed. As an adult I can't eat mashed potatoes because how often I ate them. My mom could cook well but boomer food like potatoes was cheap. Same thing with my aunt, she refuses to eat mashed potatoes as an adult.

I would cook for my friends when a visited as a nice thing to do because all my friends were significantly wealthier than me so I cooked as a way to thank them for often providing me with things I couldn't afford and both my friends and their parents were surprised that I could cook. I am not a great cook by any means but I can competently cook but cooking should be a life skill that everyone should learn.

My 79 y/o Dad has been at my house for 47 days. I hope he goes to my sister's at the end of this month. I really didn't think my entire summer would be darkened by his presence in my home. He pooped his pants the other day and rinsed them out in the bathroom sink. He then proceeded to carry them out of the bathroom and try to present them to me to deal with. I shouted at him to "Throw them in the trash"! He appeared confused by this demand. He just stood there for a moment and I could tell he didn't want to part with them. Maybe they had some sort of sentimental value? Maybe he's just that much of a cheapskate that it would be like throwing away money (approximately $1.47) to him? There was no way in hell I was going to deal with that. Most people who aren't boomers in that shitty situation would have quietly just thrown them in the trash in the bathroom then thrown that trash bag out in the outside bin. Most people would be embarrassed about pooping their pants and would quietly get rid of the evidence. I guess boomers are built kind of different.

What the fuck.

What the absolute fuck.

What in the everloving fuck did boomers do to your guys' mashed potatoes that makes you not like them and consider it boomer food now holy shit. If I ever hated boomers for anything it's for that.

Mashed taters are delicious and you can do a bunch of stuff with it. Load them full of butter, garlic, and herbs. Add some milk to make them creamier if you want. Add sour cream. Truly one of the best sides to have with something like steak.

Then there's something called the "poor man's meal." Just take chopped potatoes, onions, meat (any meat, sausages, spam, etc), and other vegetables you can get your hands on.

Though in all honesty, I can imagine getting tired of that too.

That's something a dementia patient does, not an grown ass old man. Who the fuck washes the shit outta their pants in the bathroom sink, at least rinse it off in the shower or the hose outside.

If you shit your pants just throw them away TBH. Underwear isn't that expensive and trying to save a singular pair isn't worth it.

Most normal people would but boomers aren't normal and they don't think rationally. He probably has the mindset of if he keeps throwing away underwear because he keeps shitting his pants and having to buy new pairs he won't be able to afford his third Corvette or something.

He is definitely slipping mentally. I had genuinely thought he was relieving himself outside somewhere on our property because he hardly ever comes in to use the bathroom. And since he uses the garden hose to rinse his dentures off, why not rinse his underwear out outside?

This was really the best option.

Even my 90 year old grandpa doesn't do shit like that lol. Please tell me he isn't driving anymore. My grandpa can still play 9 holes of golf and walk around the course with me using the golf cart just to carry his clubs because he refuses to drive to the next hole and even then my family is trying to convince him he shouldn't be driving anywhere except around the neighborhood.

Good news! He is no longer driving. He had to surrender his license last year after he had let his insurance lapse and he hit a lady in an Escalade with his 96 Saturn. My sister and I were wondering why he was avoiding our calls so she flew out to find out what was going on. He was going to just ignore the whole thing and possibly end up in jail over it. Anyway, as cheap as he is he ended up having to fork over almost $9k out of pocket to pay to fix that lady's car. He's lucky she didn't feign some sort of injury.

I am way more successful than my father and he quietly seethes about it.
I won't overshare but he's a retarded boomer and it brings me such joy to rub it in his face by simply existing.
SUFFAH BIIIIIIIIISH

the boomer isnt even close to being the worst special infected just mildly annoying sometimes dunno why it needs a thread

the charger and jockey are the most annoying in my opinion

Who will the vague, generational masses blame all the world problems on in 10 years when all the boomers are dead? What cohort is large enough and is plausibly responsible for the scarcity of affordable housing, good paying jobs and wealth?

I got my car serviced today, was the youngest person in the waiting room and the only one with an actual book. Boomers are as glued to the phone as anyone else but can't shut the fuck up about these kids and their ticktalks and instagrams.
