Unironically good. I know we all hate boomers but lets not pretend it's actually useful for American citizens for such projects to go ahead.

It'll just be foreign browns mostly. Not even home grown browns. Just jeets and overseas niggers stuffed in those things.
Problem is all those folks keep voting for more browns.

Just not closeby.

It would be commendable for what these old folks were opposing, if it wasnt for their cancerous politics.

These are the mfs that worship media like "its a wonderful life" and the idea of small town america but talk about needing foreign cheap labor that destroys said america in the same breath

11100000000% bullshit. If you're top 10% of your class in HS in Texas you get automatic admission to the state schools.

I was top 5% when it was top 10% get automatic admission.

You DO NOT have to do all that to get into UT, A&M, Texas Tech, and so on.

Maybe if you're going for a full ride scholarship at their places or TCU/SMU/Rice.

Also, major selection generally is locked in in second semester Sophomore year or maybe First semester Jr year.

When you go to grad school the Degree path is essentially set day 1.
Getting into the top ranked engineering programs is difficult for out-of-state students. Usually, most of the slots in the program are reserved for in-state applicants. This means that you really want Georgia residency if you want to go to Georgia Tech. In-state is much easier and normally reasonably talented applicants have no issue with top state programs.

no its about the idea of lowering their property values by allowing more housing in the area. cant let that happen.

As I've said before in the r/fuckcars thread, this is not actually an issue as long as immigration is in the state it's in because there will always, always be more people needing housing then there is available housing and that is what drives up housing prices the most. The supply and demand issue is never fixed, by design.

Even if it wasnt sky scraper style apartments, they also vote against housing complexes that are out of the reach of your average illegal or h1b jeet. Boomers will also vote to squash local businesses if it means keeping their towns hostile to youth so they can die in quiet peace. They do occasionally vote usefully though, like as seen with brexit.

counter argument: do you want more homeless people living in the state or do you want them housed so they arent a problem anymore

Brexit was about as useful as shooting yourself in the head and blaming other people for pulling the trigger

The vast majority of homeless, let alone visible homeless, are not that way because they can't get housing but because they're severe drug addicts that have exhausted every resource available to them, to say nothing of any family/friends, because they cannot stop using.

On one hand I would hate and I do hate giant ass towers being built near my house. On the other note they chose to live in San Francisco(run by fags, filled with fags), a place that already has hundreds of high rises. I live in the suburbs (with lots of trees and ravines and nature) a considerable way from any city and until recently no highrises. If they don't want to sell their houses at an affordable price then they have to deal with high rises

Boomer blames the therapists.
I see this as a win. Therapists could use a good ol' public shaming.

As usual, Boomers are so simple-minded that they'll buy the narrative. In reality, it's pretty much everyone who ISN'T a Boomer giving this type of advice now.

Case in point:
Day 54. My Dad finally took a shower yesterday. It had been July 3rd since his last and he had even pooped his pants in between.
Ok you need to threaten to put him in a home. This is disrupting your life now.

The average Cali boomer lib's insufferablility is vooting for state politicians that make no secret of wanting high density housing in suburban areas then get butthurt when said politicians took away local control on zoning laws.

Plus out of state tuition can be 4x as expensive at some universities.

Apparently its top 5% of your class right at this second. From what I gather they want to lower it to top 3%? Some other parents in my org said the same. I did not go to school in TX, so I never had to deal with such a rule.

How is that even rated in the 2020s when schools have kids with 4.5 GPAs and you have a dozen Valedictorians in every HS? Nevermind the whole concept of competitive majors to even do at a university. If you did a major in Computer Science 17 years ago when I did all it took was walking in the registrar and filling out a form and walking out.

I understand that most scholarships are locked behind either diversity or a 1450 minimum SAT score today?

Point being, attending a state university 17 years ago was not that stressful. I was an above average student but I was not some ridiculous overachiever try hard. Yet I did well. I am not seeing that being something Gen Z gets to enjoy.

As much as I make fun of muh trauma, boomers do the whole “as long as I pretend it didn’t happen, it didn’t actually happen” routine. Most boomers are absolutely loath to admit they ever made mistakes, especially as parents. This no contact thing is at least getting some boomers to admit that they weren’t perfect.
Elder Millennials were in their 20's during the 2000's. Feel old yet?
The millennial generation started in 1981 because the earliest cohort would be 18 at the turn of the millennium. The oldest cohort of millennials is 45. Millennials are not ready to accept they’re starting to get on the wrong side of middle age. I’m a millennial and the whole xillennial/ zillennial/ Generation Y shit is because millennials couldn’t admit they were getting to be 30 so they had to start splitting up by microgenerations.

My scorching hot take is that colleges need to go back to being competitive, not just accepting any kid that can sign a FAFSA form. Also let’s be real, almost every college and high school kid is just using AI to do all their homework. Prospective students are going to need to stand out for reasons other than grades since LLMs are doing that work for them. I don’t blame them, I’d do the same thing.

Or stop hiding careers like teaching behind 7 years of study if they want to get payed well. Easily affordable Certifications, not long ass, expensive degrees, should be the priority for 9 out of 10 career paths. A lot of healthcare specialists do this already, a 3 month course and then an internship rather than a 4 year odyssey where 3.5 years are dedicated to filler bullshit

There's the "Bennett Hypothesis" which argues that the more loans available, they're going to raise the price of tuition. Plus, if the student attends and the school gets the money, the school isn't going to care what happens afterwards, they did their job.

Some university systems are doing this in the form of associates degrees. They work you into a trainable state and then you can jump to a bachelor's later if needed.
