I'm not against cutting out educational fluff for positions that don't need it, but the transition period seems rough. You think importing Infinity+1 Jeets is bad now? Wait until Arbitrary Credential #362 is genuinely rare in young, domestic talent, on top of the issues that already plague entry-level work. Not to say the Jeets will have real degrees themselves, of course, but you'd definitely need to couple this with protectionist policies or you're just gonna fuck over the kids, at least if conditions are similar-ish to how they are now.
 
I've skimed through the thread so its probably been said before, but here what I've found out from my personal experience in regards to boomers:
>Says that kids these days have it better than they did, uses things like smartphones as a justification
>Hates having their own words used against them
>Hated by every other generation that has interacted woth them as a whole (Both older and younger)
>Complete hypocrites (Do as I say not as I do)
>treats anyone they consider less than them like shit (Usually its service/retail workers)
>Sees the younger generations as sexual competition for younger girls
>high sense of entitlement
>See's their kids in terms of assets/liability's (the kick him out of the house at 18 types, funny enough a majority of the time i've seen it only apply to their sons and not their daughters)
>difficulty separating fantasy from reality (facebook ai generated memes, getting 1 shotted by the tv)

No sympathy from me tbh, I hope day of the pillow comes soon
I could probably find some decent seething over on gransnet forums but I couldn't be assed to care about boomers tbh
I cut the toxic ones off and have had less stress in my life as a result

My gen X parents where able to live at home for as long as they wanted, had college fully paid by their parents (or the state), but when it was my turn, they decided to kick me out AND let me foot the bill for college (couldn't apply for government student loans since they made above the income threshold, but still got half decent scholarship). So, while my parents surfed through college on their parents dime, I got to live in shared housing with 5 non students and STILL have a half an hour commute!

To be fair boomers are the ones who've basically made this necessary with all the retarded zoning laws they've pushed for. Hell most of the "starter" homes they love to tell young to buy are actually illegal to build nowadays specifically thanks to the zoning laws made by boomers desperately trying to protect their property values.

Nothing screams "good neighbors" when they want to foreclose your home just because you aren't some miserable old fuck or do anything with your house they don't approve of. HOAs should be restricted for property maintenance only (lawn care, street cleaning, etc), not "You can't have a basketball hoop in your driveway, you're not allowed to play street hockey, you're getting fines because we think it's the wrong shade of tan for the house color." Fuck HOAs.

Oh, and then the people who report you to the HOA for "violations" are almost always boomers, and that boomer who reported you lives 14 houses down the street or on another street altogether.

I think the bigger fix should be rearranging the market not college. College is currently the monster it is due to Boomer/X dickriding that it is the most important thing ever and needed because it gives you skills you allegedly cannot get elsewhere. If this mentality died and the market would take people with no degrees, pretty much every issue plaguing modern college would be fixed. There is no reason why an HR lady or Google Spreadsheet guy should be dropping thousands for a 4-year degree for their easily trainable position.

Cutting out the fluff degrees through market correction would automatically downsize the college pool so it can go back to focusing on big subjects like medical, legal, STEM or education. There are jobs that should require the extra hurdle of a degree, but America has blown past any form of reasonability when it comes to the overcredentialization of our market. It’ll take time, but the reintroduction of manufacturing and agricultural positions, end of 3rd world scab labor, and hopeful depreciation of housing and other essential costs should push people out of the college space leaving it cheaper and for the important disciplines.

How do HOAs even work? How can anyone tell you want you can and can't do on your property? Why can't you just tell these faggots to fuck off? Are they all gated communities or something? Shit makes zero sense to me.

They are registered as a private entity that are tied to the deed of your house, which is why they can foreclose on your house. Towns like to make these mandatory to push some of the maintenance in these neighborhoods so they don't have to spend any money. It's real niggercattle shit.

Fuck me. I will never complain about paying rates to my local municipality again. Sure they might steal 95% of it for themselves but at least I'm not getting kicked out of my home because I got the wrong design for my mailbox.

Because when you bought the deed it had a stipulation that you’re subject to the HOA.

Any property right can generally speaking be separated from other property rights and bought and sold separately. Like how you don’t necessarily own mineral rights on “your” land, or an easement, or indeed renting/leasing. HOAs are the same. It’s subject to an HOA because at some point whoever owned the deed allowed it to be.

However, fuck the 55+ situation happening now because that's actual discrimination to a person based on an immutable characteristic. I was under the impression in order for 55+ communities to exist they had to let in at least 10% under 55 to not technically be discrimination. This situation with the 20 something daughter inheriting her father's home is going to blow up in the face of all NIMBY seniors. If it goes to court and keeps fighting it to the S.C. there is a high likelihood senior home communities nationwide could be out right banned for being unconstitutional. The residents really should have just eaten this one and let her live there.

Depending on where you live this can be easier said than done. In a lot of areas your only choices for non HOA housing is basically the ghetto and outside of city limits, and yes you have options and can choose the devil you prefer but it's still fair to address that locking so many housing opportunities behind an HOA is retarded.

Actually no, while the federal law prohibiting housing discrimination did originally cover discriminating against people for being to young, in the 90's an amendment was added to it specifically allowing discriminations against people under the age of 55. Which is why that's always the limit on these retirement communities.
 
This is a BOOMER hate thread, not a "I HATE HOAs BECAUSE I WANT TO LIVE LIKE A NIGGER" thread.

I guarantee all the people bellyaching about HOA communities contribute nothing to their communities except complaints. If you attend a single HOA meeting you will often see how batshit insane your neighbors actually are. We never dealt with basketball hoops, but have you had to figure on a maximum number of windchimes on a patio because someone's grandma got windchime fever from dementia and hung over 30 of them so one weak breeze caused them to all ring? (we decided on EIGHT total windchimes - subject to review)
How about a three hour meeting about approved security doors because some arrested development redditers decided to go with a Looney Toons motif to increase property values?
Should a parrot be able to scream bloody murder for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, forever?
How about collecting dog shit on your patio until it's ankle deep in a 5x 12 space?

The real villains are actually the property management companies that are hired by HOAs, and the HOA council checks out to let them generate fines for a profit. In some states HOAs must hire pmc's, they don't have a choice. During my tenure we hired, fired and rehired at least 5 companies because the company or manager was incompetent.

I worked to increase my communities property values by at least $30K per household, applied for and was awarded grants for over 100K and left them with over $180K in reserves before I sold and left.

If you move to an HOA run community and don't run for a position on a council and refuse to attend monthly meetings, you get what you deserve. Also, don't move to an HOA run community.
