No, it's called having boundaries, dignity, and self-respect. You let a feeble old man push you around and complained about it in detail ITT but then when people tell you that it's bullshit you put up with it and try to give you solutions, you turn around and act like we're being the weird ones.

Shit or get off the pot nigger.
I said it's weird you think you know what I think. I actually don't think it's weird that some of yall called me out on my poor boundaries. I already know I struggle with that. I sincerely appreciate that you care so much! But honestly you (and a couple of others here) are the ones acting like a chimpout niggers as is evident by the fact you're STILL mad at me for venting about my crazy boomer dad here. Which is what I thought the purpose of this thread was for.

Aren't we supposed to be bonding over our mutual hate for boomers?

“When credit was not a toy.”

Nigger, so many boomers are estranged from their kids because they trashed those kids’ credit! Before they turned 18 in a lot of cases.

If you could do a survey of why millennials/elder zoomers keep their parents at a distance, I’d bet so much money that the top 3 reasons are something something Drumpf, dad/creepy uncle Eddie hit on your girlfriend and mom defended it, and stealing their kids’ identity for a second house or a timeshare or some shit.

It's frustrating seeing someone say something is a problem and when you tell them yeah that's a problem and here's what you should do about it they push back on you. I don't need to know what you think because I'm not critiquing how you think. I'm critiquing the choices you yourself say that you make and how you live.

If anything, that behavior/mindset proves she is telling the truth and actually was raised by a particularly crazed boomer. Even if children dislike their parents, the parent's mannerisms still rub off on them one way or another, unless they consciously identify and try to unlearn them.

"They grew up in a day of blue laws"

Many states dropped general Sunday shopping bans during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Prime boomer years.

"A day when family mattered"

Millennials divorce 30% less than boomers.

"When credit was not a toy"

Boomers average more credit cards and higher credit limits compared to Millennials.

"They endured mortgage interest that pushed 20%"

It never pushed 20%. It peaked at 18%. Median house prices were also 47k during the boomer peak era with 17-18% interest, compared to now with ~6.5% on fucking 400k.

"They delayed gratification"

Modern generations demonstrate an increased ability to wait and delay gratification compared to children in the 1960s.

"They went to work with more than just a headache"

Congratulations, they went to work with a broken something and made it worse by not seeking medical attention. How about they further demonstrate that rugged individualistic bootstrappy toughness by not utilizing Medicare?

I want to give this fucking guy a whirlie so bad.

Fair enough.

And in case you haven't noticed, I haven't had anything to vent about for about 2 weeks because he's my sister's problem right now. When he comes back though hopefully you can allow me this platform once again after you guys calm down from your chimpout.

Once again I will say this wouldn't be sustainable if my sister didn't share this burden with me. If it were up to me, he'd be in the cheapest nursing home we could find.

Its kinda dishonest, but so are they...what do you think?
You should be nice to them because they are your family, end of story. If they're abusive or destructive, thats a different scenario with different concerns.
Too many of these "my boomer relatives are [insert bad trait here]" seems predicated on the idea that the user will never be a problem or have moral failings in their old age.

One thing boomers don’t understand, especially the men, is just how easy it was back in their day to snag a girlfriend/wife. Your 4/10 dude was able to shack up with a 4/10, or even a 5/10 chick.

Today those 4/10 dudes are either incel virgins who are taking advantage of poor SEA women or gay out of desperation.

Todays 4/10 women want a 10/10 firefighter who is a 250k a year businessman on the side who is 6 feet 8 inches tall, cooks gourmet meals, and has a 6 pack.

My boomer parents act confused why I haven’t ever had a girlfriend, have ever had a girl think I’m attractive*,or plan to get married when I’m at best a 2/10 and look extremely young for my age (30).
why would you ever voluntarily post this? Also congrats on becoming a wizard.

Bro, what a self own. What exactly are you trying to prove? That you’re a loser and your parents were right? I’m confused.

Add this to the list of shit I wouldn't admit under torture.

Boomers explain how the Silent generation were able to live so well.
If you want to check out pure, unfiltered boomer behavior, just go to an MSN comment section, especially an article regarding the economy, finance, etc.

One of the funniest was a battle between Libboomers who thought teachers should be paid in the six digits on average vs MAGABoomers thinking they should literally work pro bono.

Older Baby Boomers force their outdated dogma upon others and are insistent on always being right even when corrected. I think their attitude is partially due to their generational cohort's inflated egos and a tendency of being more set in their ways as they age. Nobody really cares if you're right or wrong at the end of the day. What genuinely annoys people is if you're childish about it. Dogmatic individuals often have both stunted value systems and narrow-minded world views. Only their beliefs and experiences are correct and valid. The world should run solely based on their black and white ideologies in their minds. Everyone who disagrees with them or has a differing perspective is a naive fool who doesn't know what they're talking about. You don't want leaders and politicians with mindsets running a nation, business, or a company. Unfortunately, many boomers have this my way or the highway attitude when it comes to life in general.

The most notable Boomer with this dogmatic mindset who comes to mind is John Rosemond. In the '80s and early '90s, Rosemond had a very different attitude compared to nowadays. His parenting advice came across as reasonable and clear, and his tone was firm yet calm toward raising children. Over the decades, however, his tone changed drastically. He went from advocating for authoritative parenting that empowered parents to enforcing an authoritarian style, while arrogantly sneering at those who raise their children differently and experts who say otherwise. Rosemond claims to be the only parenting guru you can trust, despite the fact that he hasn't raised a child in over 30 years.

While he offers good advice from time to time, his pompous, snide tone and ad-hominem attacks alienate readers, even as he decries parents and younger generations for being disrespectful. When others call him out for some of his questionable advice or practices, he flatly refuses to understand his critics or admit fault. As a doctrinaire defender of his own era, Rosemond also brags about how the baby boomer generation is the most self-sufficient and most competent generation, dismissing every subsequent generation as worthless. He also speaks of his own Gen X children in an incredibly hurtful manner as if they were the worst things to ever happen to him and his wife. Nobody will care to listen to someone who's that much of a mean-spirited dogmatist, no matter how right they might be.
