The boomers in my life keep lamenting how nobody will pay their pensions and we need more foreigners because the generations after them have too few children. But didn't the boomers themselves cause the baby bust because they had none to two children, and later in life, than the previous generations? I feel like I'm going insane. There's too many people shitting themselves and then pointing the fingers at others, screaming about how others have shat themselves.

Why is this? I'm racking my brain for all of the grandparents to zoomers/alpha I know personally and only one of them is the stereotypical cookies grandma. It's fucking twisted.

I think it was always that way with resenting youth. It was a media operation to manage the perception of old women. The media softened perceptions of bitter old women by making them into cookie bakers.

I only know of one women who did this; in my entire life only one example. She complained to me so much about it afterwards. She did it one year and then got sick of it. She made jam and baked cookies for the holidays. We were neighbours and as a ‘thank you’ she gave me some jam and cookies. Most of what she made went to her grand kids. She was just 70 at the time and the next few years she didn’t repeat the ritual of the cookies and jam. Not that I was just excused, but she would complain about how she was too sick and old and how other people, who I didn’t know, she felt took advantage of her for baking and making jam for them. These were people outside of her family who she also gave away what she made to. It seems like it turned into a way for her to feel put-down by other people, instead of a fun thing for her to do for her family and maybe some neighbours. I suspect that old women taking up baking get the idea from magazines and other media that push the idea on them. It’s not like a well established national tradition IRL. You would never know that if you look at the media, like magazines and TV, because the media makes it out like it’s a long standing national tradition. I’ve never experienced this.

Incidentally there are tons of laws all throughout the First World that were created because these awful old women are obsessed with specific normal behaviours that they have paranoidly transformed into a great offence. For example there is a county in England where it's illegal to put your garbage bins out the night before collection. The law makes it so you're only allowed put to them out the day of collection. This law is never enforced because it's ridiculous. Old bitter hags are just obsessed with it. The same thing with in the states, some places don't let you walk your dog because the same awful old women in a completely different country have concocted a paranoid agenda about how it's wrong to let your dog pee on other people's laws (even the median) and not enough people pick up the poo.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_b...r-bin-out-early-is-not-as-serious-as-stealing
https://archive.ph/gcp7I
The government pretends it’s a genuine thing to make the crazy old hags who are obsessed with this and always come out to the referendums satisfied, but the rest of society knows this is obnoxious and capricious.

I remember a expat YouTuber in Japan talking about a similar thing there. Some old women came up to him and started demanding that he only put his bins out in the morning when he leaves for work. This is super burdensome, like you don't already have too much to get done before work. He asked a police officer about it and the Japanese police officer said it's not illegal to put the bins out the night before. The excuse the women gave for why he had to put them out only in the morning is because owls will attack the bins and go though the trash. The bins are kept in a bin collection area with a net over them. The bins not really at risk for animals tampering. It's all down to crazy old women who are mean and extremely board.

All these awful old women should be institutionalised. It's like a law of nature all the awful old women are obsessed with the same things that normal sane people don't care about.

It's not just the boomers, the whole system is designed to fuck over next generations:
* Boomers benefit by having their pension paid
* Some benefit because there's too many people and not enough land/houses
* There's a lot of consumers that need to spend and buy
* Employers have more power if there are many people fighting for jobs
* It's harder for people to mobilize and organize if it's too many of them and they're toi divided

Of course boomers will all die out before the consequences of their actions get to impact them; terrorism, totalitarianism, global warming, etc

This is a video about an old man who euthanised neighborhood cats. His name was Ivan Schworm. These cats were not his pets and he would attract other people's pet cats to his house. Then after he'd caught them after luring them with food he'd kill them in a home made gas chamber made from a large cooler and a tank of CO2 gas. This story has been out for a while now. Prefect fit for the thread. These crazy old people need to be institutionalised. I feel like a broken record saying it.

Six months probation for gassing seventeen cats, btw. Personally, if I caught someone killing my cat or my dog for no other reason than the fucking sadistic fun of it, I'd put them on a t-shirt. Fucking with people's pets is only a few steps below fucking with their flesh-and-blood children.

It's genuinely confusing sometimes. I've seen these guys prototype, design, troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs on mills and EDM machines for complex parts and troubleshoot all kinds of weird issues, extremely proficient in our CAD software and do all kinds of neat tricks with it, but they were bewildered and confused when they saw me use the searchbar on File Explorer to find old programs.
this is simply because all knowledge is specialized knowledge. the guys working on the nuclear bomb might not have known how to braid a girls hair. so what? meaningless.
The idea that united states used to be a "high trust society" is a modern propaganda invention. Boomers lie all the time about things that don't even make sense to lie about. They are clearly so comfortable doing this that they must have been lying like this their entire lives. How could the united states actually have been "high trust" if the average person knows everybody lies constantly and you yourself, as a boomer, lie all the time too. Any rational person would not trust people who are pathologically dishonest in a society where nobody is strait with you about anything. The boomers in the past would get away with lying more, but they would have to be found out at some point and then any trust they have built up destroyed by the glaring fact that it was all based on false representations. I know people lie a lot now too and that in certain cultures dishonestly in very common. I'm not naive to these facts. I have know boomers who will get very upset with you when you tell them that they are lying; they expect to be believed without question all the crazy shit they say. They get very offended and have a little pity party about it, a sort of tantrum, if they receive any push back. They themselves are casually dishonest. They also will accuse you of lying even when you are telling the truth, just because they don't like or don't understand what you are saying. It's this game they play: They are always honest, and throw a little tantrum about how they never lie, if you call them out on their bullshit. However at the same time they attack you and other people for lying without evidence. They expect and get very upset if they are not automatically believed, but at the same time expect other people to not be entirely honest. The "high trust society" narrative has to be a modern invention to re-enforce boomers existing arrogance about their own perceived honesty which is a head-cannon fantasy that they maintain about themselves.
they hate you because you are correct

Also, boomers clog up the healthcare system because they did not take care of their bodies. A friend of mine has a condition that the doctors cannot figure out. He needs to see a neurologist, but the closest neurology appointment is literally a year and a half away, simply due to the fact that boomers need to go to every single DR 20, 477 days a week because they may have something that feels funny.
God forbid you're a younger person with medical problems. You will literally be passed over. So Boomer. Can literally have his body fixed from all the cocaine and heroin he did.

This also reminds me the health care system will constantly listen to the whiny complaints of boomers. But if you're a younger person, you can just straight up get fucked. If you need some inpatient hospital stays, you better have. At least like half of your hand missing.
I've been having to be in and out of the emergency room with my friend and literally nearly punched a nurse in the face because she literally would say, well, he's perfectly fine. And then he fell in the lobby three times and they still would not put this guy in the hospital. To figure out what's wrong with him, just go to these 600. Different outpatient. Diagnostics that are like 3 to 4 weeks away. What's that? You keep falling. We need these hospital rooms so we can build the Boomers insurance. Even though your friend has good insurance, he doesn't have Boomer insurance.

In this retorted fat ugly dyke looking Boomer literally was put into a hospital room and was admitted to the hospital. But my friend can't, even though he keeps falling over, can't work and can't get back to doing the things he enjoys in life 'cause he just needs to figure out why he's randomly collapsing. And they keep saying he's dehydrated.
So my rent is basically few young. And having medical problems, they prioritize low IQ fat ugly boomers

dude you are clearly overthinking it. the US used to be a high trust society before the boomer mindset took hold. in the early to mid 60s people generally used to leave the keys in their cars ignition because nobody would steal it until their boomer kids decided to go grand theft auto and joyride all the time. later in life these same boomers project and tell us we can't have gta games. shit happened

Are you joking? There's a big brown reason why people stopped being so laissez-faire with their possessions and it wasn't an epidemic of Boomer joyriders. Even into the 2000's, in Europe, you could leave your shit unattended in a city without worrying about theft.

If you're going to blame Boomers, blame them for importing and inviting the institutional worship of the petty criminals, not for the crimes themselves.

No. There never was high trust society in the US. Boomers lied. They just tell tall tails to their kids and expect them to believe everything unquestioningly. The high trust society narrative is an appeal to historical prosperity, just like 'make America great again'. It's historical revisionism.

The gleeful “haha” => crying about birthrates is genuinely embarrassing. You can’t just whip from one to the other, it looks like they never believed a word of it.

Boomers also used schools and hospitals as a money tree until raising a kid became financially impossible.

Americans ruined a once beautiful land...

There's surely some exaggeration and bias due to lifestyles (particularly the rural vs urban divide) but I don't understand why you're ardent in thinking that they're completely full of shit on this one. Consider some of the differences society (targeting specially on the US) has undergone since the 1960s:

***and keep in mind "rural" today, particularly due to advancements in communication and technology isn't the same as 60 years ago and even 30 is noticeably different.

I'm painting with somewhat of a broad brush, but it's very reasonable to infer many things:

  • the boomers talking about how society was a higher trust one probably skew toward those who grew up rural or spent significant pre-middle age years there
  • the ones who weren't rural probably use a broader definition of "high trust" but also did live in more of a monoculture than people do today
  • the people were far more similar (not just physically) and most boomers, regardless or where they're from are at least going to check the "white" box
  • they stayed closer to family and had shared roots
  • they were less likely to stray from where they grew up and lived at a slower pace in slower areas than today (this includes broader news and thus perceptions of the broader world)

What would an average person say if you asked them if they're more or less likely to feel safe and free to engage in low level risky situations (not locking a door, trusting your young kid to go somewhere unaccompanied, etc.) when you factor those things in? Whether it's statistically a good idea or safe or whatever isn't even relevant. One of the big complaints about boomers is that they're too trusting and gullible, so one can even chalk it up to that if they want.

Also, boomers clog up the healthcare system because they did not take care of their bodies.
This is bothering me more as time goes on. A boomer uncle of mine recently commented on how good I looked. That is because I am the polar opposite of him at this point. He has been overweight for almost his entire life. Instead of getting his act together, he just continued to rot in front of the television and shove junk food into his face. Lo and behold, he started having joint problems, and eventually had a knee surgery that went wrong somehow. I feel bad about that to a certain extent, but it would never have happened if he had taken care of himself in the first place. "I've been dealing with some health problems." Gee, I wonder why. I ask again: Why are they like this?!

It really was a more high trust society, and do not let anyone gaslight you into thinking otherwise. My grandfather left the keys in his car and the doors unlocked when he got home from work every day. He did live in a rural area, but it was right next to a highway. Anybody could have exited the freeway, checked the few houses that were there for unlocked cars with keys in the ignition, and jumped back on right away. It never happened. In the largest city (less than 100,000) in the metro area that my parents moved us to in the mid-'90s, people were still leaving their keys in the ignition well into the 2000s. In the year 2000, the city was 90% white. Now it is around 75% and falling fast. This is why the police at the time had to keep reminding people to actually take their keys with them and lock their cars, because up until 5 minutes ago, the area was almost 100% white and high trust. The crime went up when the diversity showed up. Shocking, I know.

I used to work IT where I would go to people’s houses and help them with their computers. All the clients I had were white boomers. The area was suburban and rural. The boomers that I worked for were all scammy gaslighting narcissists. When I stopped that job, I stilled lived in the same area and had more bad experiences with boomers. One of my neighbours, a white male boomer, living in the apartment complex I was living in jack knifed my car in the parking lot because he must not have been able see well enough to turn correctly. He was parked next to my car and turned too early when backing out and gave my car a flat tire on the side closest to his car. He did not own up to it and pretended nothing happened. Both his and my car were damaged only in a way that would be consistent with him causing the damage. Their was paint from his car on my car and the light between the wheel and front door on his car was broken. The light was at the same height as where my car tire was cut. The police came and thumbed their nose at the whole situation. The white female police officer ignored the physical evidence. I had to eat replacing the a tire and the boomer got off without out any consequences.

I don’t understand why people think living in an area where people are mostly white would mean they are more honest and better behaving. It does not match my experience.

The first time I ever heard “the united states used to be a high trust society” was in an alt right podcast about 3 years ago and I’ve heard it more since then. I can’t believe it because it does not match my own experience. If the boomers are scammy assholes now, they have been that way their whole lives. People become more extreme versions of themselves as they age. They do not mellow with age at all. From the other accounts of boomer behaviour in this thread I know I am not alone in these sort of experiences.

Boomers have found the bo french UT pajeet post and are collectively losing their minds over it, primarily on boomerbook. Publicly decrying that its a good thing and every student enrolled in a US college should be some shade of brown. I would screenshot a few examples but im at work and really cant right now. I just fundamentally do not understand what in the fuck is wrong with these geriatric freaks. When in history has an entire generation collectively hated their own county, their fellow countrymen, own culture and their own children to such a degree? It's a bizarre and disgusting thing to see, I cant possibly fathom that any of these boomers families want anything to do with them.
