Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

There's not a lot to work with when you're trying to make a comedy game but it's Clown World and your boss is woke faggot Randy Pitchford and your company cares about what the alphabet people on Resetera think, for some reason.

I would bet every single thing I own that Face McShooty's schtick will make a comeback.

Pre sequel was weird. After borderlands 2 improved a ton from the first game and changed a lot, pre sequel was just a glorified dlc. It’s still a game, and it introduced some cool ideas, but it was just not as memorable. I hope they bring back those mechanics and polish them in 3, as it seems you go to different planets in that game.
Pre-Sequel was a 2K cash grab farmed-out sequel that Gearbox had little to nothing to do with, along the same lines as BioShock 2. That’s why it feels like a bootleg Borderlands and doesn’t make sense with how characters like Jack are handled compared to the canon games.

Randy? Faggot? Perhaps? Woke? Only when he needs to cover his ass, perhaps. He's just a slimeball all around, perpetually sweaty creep - he looks like someone who would touch kids inappropriately when no one is looking.
Too bad that fate of the Borderlands franchise is attached to that moron, doesn't do it any favors. At this point I'm more concerned about 2k/Take-Two, though.

Its amazing how Borderlands 3 seems to be being boycotted by its own company, while we are just simply begging for them to not ruin everything.
Oh and is anyone going to wait for the "complete edition" to come out ? Preferably on Steam (because fuck Epic Store).
Edit: I also reaaaally hope they dont try to bring Handsome Jack back in any shape or form (I know Randy says he is truly done with but that didnt stop them from horse shoe-ing him in Tales from the borderlands, did it?)

I'm just going to skip it entirely. The first Borderlands game was fun enough, but I never managed to make it through the second one; something about it just perpetually annoyed me, which is probably why I ignored the PreSequel nonsense. With Randy Pitchford at the helm I feel no need to further partake in the franchise.

What was that annoyed you? I understand maybe TPS but 2?

I think it was mostly the gunplay and the guns themselves. Overall, weapons didn't feel as accurate or as good to use like in the first game. Weapons in 2 were much quirkier, and I felt many of the quirks made weapons absolutely useless. I'd constantly find weapons that were in theory statistically superior to what I'd be using but have some oddity that made them inferior, like a pistol that uses more ammo when firing so I have to reload every two shots or an assault rifle that has to spin up to fire auto but then accuracy goes straight to hell.

I may have just been in a bad mood the last time I played 2, but happy thoughts don't come to mind when I think of it whereas when I think of the first game I consider it a rather bland but okay shooter for a decade ago.

I could write a whole diatribe on why the Pre-Sequel is bad, but here's a few easy bullet points.
  1. All the new NPCs are absolute trash (see Janey Springs and Pickle)
  2. The environs are way too big and too much of them are inaccessible to vehicles
  3. Cryo as a mechanic is broken garbage
  4. Nisha is also completely broken garbage (her ult is guaranteed headshots and she has a short-range melee)
  5. Quests almost completely stop while dialogue is playing, forcing you to wait until it completes to move on (e.g. a door that is shut until the voiceline stops). This wouldn't be as much of a problem if it wasn't happening constantly.
  6. Handsome Jack's transformation is tried to be played out as a gradual thing, but then they stopped caring
To add to this I swear the aiming is off in the pre-sequel.

I'm dying to know, how worse is the writing compared to 2?

Will it make me wish Anthony Burch was still writing this shitpile of a series? Any choice examples would be greatly appreciated.

I read this review the other day.

It's Ben Kuchera and Polygon, I figured they'd be shilling hard for it but surprisingly he basically calls it a poorly written turd with bad quests, awful characters, and too much telling with not enough showing. Also sounds like the big villains are just sort of "there" and not really interesting or menacing like Jack.

That is, when it would stay running and not crash. Because apparently it runs like ass.

Anyone actually playing this? If you could give your thoughts on how 3 turned out I'd much appreciate it.

I trust a Farms user way more than any journalist or pissed off metacritic reviewers.

I was also annoyed throughout BL2 as well, though the gameplay was solid. Frankly, the Borderlands brand of humor isn't my cup of tea.
I think if you took out Handsome Jack the story would have sucked because basically everyone else is either annoying or boring (Or both) The game tries so hard to force its emotional stuff and I just don't care. I don't care about boring and lame Roland or some stupid bird thing getting killed. HJ is really the only compelling character in the game.

2K Games and Gearbox didn’t send out review codes for Borderlands 3. Instead, they set reviewers up with new Epic Games Store accounts with the game unlocked, and gave us a few warnings about the game being a work in progress. They asked us to stay away from the DirectX 12 implementation, for example, and told us that our progress in these builds may or may not carry over to the final game.
Hahahahahahaha what??
