My girlfriend convinced me to play Genshin Impact with her, and I'm surprised at how unexpectedly not terrible it is. It's not something I would ever play if not for her, but I have to give credit where credit is due, it has no forced diversity, no LGBT, all the characters are white/asian. the microtransactions are cancerous (to be expected because it's a gacha game) but I wouldn't call them predatory, there is no point in the game where you're hit with an obscene difficulty spike that you're expected to pay your way out if, in fact, there's nothing in the game you can't beat with the default characters you get at the start of the game, and there's no paid content you can't also unlock relatively easily for free. Compared to western releases such as hearthstone or anything EA shat out that tries to make you feel bad for not paying, it's really not as awful as people think. And I've never encountered a bug or glitch at all. The only grievance I have with this game is how shitty the story is, but I can't really complain about that because it's free.
I don't see why I should get upset at this Chinese game when there are way, way shittier and more predatory things being published by white people that I can get upset about.
