No, I really don't. There's a huge DC statehood movement, and the people of Puerto Rico voted in a 2012 referendum that they preferred statehood. Now, there are certainly partisan political arguments against either becoming a state (the likely addition of two Democratic Senators from each), constitutional arguments over whether or not DC should get statehood, economic and cultural arguments as to whether or not Puerto Rico should become a state, and things like that, but nothing relating to the number fifty. Could you please explain the significance of the number fifty?
