The Mesopotamians' numerical system was base 10 within a base 60. Fun fact: That wasn't nearly as good as the Hindu-Arabic numerical system with zero and decimals. When Leonardo Fibonnaci (me in a previous life) bought this to Europe c. 1200, it revolutionized everything and overrided the Vatican's use of Roman numerals. It help usher in the Renaissance.
