As you can see, Brad is convinced that English is the only language that matters... mostly because it's the only language he, personally, knows, and he's egotistical enough to think that has cosmic significance. Likewise, he thinks his little number game explains the world (even thought it doesn't, not by far) because it's the only concept simplistic enough to make it into his noggin. By this point, Brad's mind is damaged enough that he's filtering out anything that contradicts what he wants to think-- this moves beyond "confirmation bias" and becomes a legitimate learning disability.
