Okay, take this with a grain of salt because of the internet, but Dunn was the child of a family friend. I've been to all the "cleveland" and cleveland adjacent events involving these cucklefucks, and got to hear second hand stories about a handful of the "behind the scenes" drama through my mother and "aunt" and other family members and friends. Anyone who says this piece of Villie following trash is acting out because Dunn wrapped his corpse around a tree is dead wrong. Earlier in this thread are links to a tour journal, from what I've gathered they are pretty close. Bam had bad parents and had fame dumped on him too early. He would have been a regular suburban brat who, in his thirties, might have learned a trade and been useful to society, but now he's just a drug addled idiot who thinks he's worth more than the flesh his bones carry.

I know I'm just sperging, but I spent a weekend with these guys in parma Ohio in the late 2000s, and what would have been a cool time left me walking away absolutely hating this primadonna faggot.

Ape and Phil are lovely folks, they are. But they were... weak. Jess wasn't like Bam, and didnt need the rearing that Bam did. Bam was the typical suburban brat, dump a bunch of money and fame on him and you make a monster. Imagine if ANY of us got millions dumped on us before we reached 21. We'd be a mess, unless we had strong parents and a strong support group of family and friends. It isn't the parents' fault, entirely, but for fuck's sake they could have helped to steer this in another direction instead of playing defense for two decades.

Addition: mind you, I have had passing interaction with them personally. I just heard the typical gossip horror stories (which, of Ape and Phil I've heard none) from friends and family. I've only met them a few times and they have always been how they appeared on screen, pretty chill folks.

Eh, Bam wasn't "abused" exactly, but April has said she didn't make Bam do any chores or give him any discipline. Phil just drove Bam around and filmed him. If you don't give a kid any structure, they're gonna usually end up bad. TBH I think Phil and Ape are just into it for the money. TBH I think Phil and Ape are just into it for the money. You do this sort of shit to a "normal" person, there would be repercussions.

They were pretty well off before their boys started raking in some cash. It wasn't money, they were just empty parents who were clueless of what "real money" could do for a person. As far as I can recall, Phil worked fairly hard for his success, same as Ape. It wasn't a money thing, it's a weak-spine thing when it comes to putting their foot down.

Since starting this thread I've written my thoughts repeatedly on Ape and Phil, and really I just hate the concept that it's Mom and Dad's fault for not raising their kid right. While yes being an overnight celeb (and one who is specifically known for harming himself) is going to result in you being more likely to fuck up that's still on Bam. Nobody forced him to keep drinking the booze and abuse stimulants.

I mean logically if we're going to blame parents who spoiled their kids should we also praise shitbag parents for somehow producing cool people? Anthony Kiedis (of The Red Hot Chili Peppers) revealed that when he was a teenager his drug dealing father would smoke pot and snort cocaine with him. Maybe we should all celebrate a Sweet 16 with an 8-Ball and our kids will wind up with 10 Platinum Albums? Woody Harrelson's father was a hitman (who maybe killed JFK!). Now murder is a pretty bad thing and so is leaving your family destitute but you can't argue with results; Woody has been a star for over 3 decades. I love True Detective Season 1 so thanks Charlie!

What worries me is that Nikki really seems to be dragging her feet when it comes to filing for divorce and setting up child support for Phoenix. She could have easily petitioned for and received an emergency protective order when Bam was arrested, but she apparently hasn't and everything seems to be taking place under the table. Being charitable to her, I wonder if she's afraid that Bam will kill himself if that final carrot is taken away from him.

I've never gotten the sense that Bam's parents are to blame for his fuck-ups, they seem like stable people who gave him a normal middle class American upbringing. There isn't much you can do for an adult addict who doesn't accept help. The other Jackass guys had similar early lives and sudden infusions of cash (excepting Steve-O, whose family is wealthy already), and they seem to have more or less turned out well, despite having their own struggles. Bam has always seemed stunted and childlike, even on the show he was quick to cry and mope unlike the others who mostly took the stunts in stride.

Someone in the Bam subreddit found an old blog on the wayback machine by a guy who was on the last Fuckface Unstoppable tour in Australia. It’s a juicy firsthand look into where Bam was at when the bottom fell out at the height of his career

where are the rest of them? it doesn't end there (part , when they start to get along because the autor, glenn stewart, threatened to quit the tour when talking to novak on the phone. he wasn't only pissed off about the whole thing but his best friend alex, who was also playing drums for FFU, wasn't responding to his family's phone calls and they started calling glenn, which was feeling guilty af. they saw the videos of alex intoxicated, getting head and being tasered on stage.

that's the best part: these fucking assholes realizing they fucked everything up and couldn't go on without glenn taking care of everything, so they had to apologize for real this time.

Ape and Phil grew up working class and then worked hard to provide a nice life for their kids. The mistake they made, and it’s pretty common, is that they overcompensate by not making their kids deal with the harsh realities of life that they had too.

Ape and Phil probably busted their ass from the ages of 12 on, went without any extras as kids, were jealous of kids with nice clothes, etc.., probably worked after school or summers and were envious of all the kids who didn’t have to.

They think giving their kids all the cool stuff they didn’t get growing up, not being strict, supporting their kids every brain fart and not making them work/ do chores so they can “enjoy their childhood” is a wonderful gift they wish they had had growing up because they had the opposite experience. Sort of like the parents who got socks and sweaters for Christmas bend over backwards to buy all the toys for their own kids. (Who don’t even appreciate it because getting everything they want is the norm.) It tends to create spoiled brats who can’t be handled told no.

But things might have still turned out all right but Bam’s juvenile antics and worst behaviors got him famous and rich - so I’m not sure what they could do at that point. In America making $$$$ makes you right.
