Careercow Brandon "Bam" Margera - From Jackass to Lolcow

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
He has one talent, and hasn't flushed anything away. He's been a petulant spoiled bitch all his life. You can't even say "the damage is done" because he had the wrong brain for recovery basically from birth.
To give Bam his dues--something which I always hate to do--he did have a multitude of talents to market himself, film himself and get famous. He spun off from Big Brother to be on Jackass to spin off to Viva la Bam and turned the Tony Hawk series into the Bam Margera video game. All while only begin able to film skate park footage (Something which is always looked down upon by aspiring and professional skaters)

Bam Margera confirmed for THPS 3+4

From Nine Club livestream.
This was always going to happen. Put out an initial line-up, tied with all the instances of Bam being removed from THPS1+2, and it's going to generate a movement; enough momentum and Bam gets put in the game, Activision are shown to have done the right thing. Not enough momentum and no one gives a shit. They are however probably just going to pay him for the rights and use a voice actor, along with old skate footage, to not have to deal with him

They had all the covers of the previous games. He was the only thing removed from them.
It wasn't just a Bam thing, Jesse James from monster garage was also removed from the THUG 2 cover.

The rest of the games' covers featured either Tony on his own or the back of a model that represented the player, so they didn't need to be edited. It's just easier to notice Bam's absence since he was such a notable part of Underground 2 and he's so visible on the box. Jesse is less famous and in the background so if you don't know who he is he just looks like a generic guy.

People assume it's because of Bam's crashout but I think they probably just didn't want to pay for licensing their images.

Don't really keep up with this thread much, it's kinda depressing. My (semi-estranged, much older, half) brother dealt with substance abuse issues for about 30 years. Dunno if he deserves it or not (like I said, haven't kept up), but Bam is incredibly fortunate to have some genuinely good people supporting him. Have heard about Tony being a total stand up guy since the 90s. Sure celebs can pay for the best rehabs money can buy, but the only thing that ever got my brother clean was having people in his corner that actually gave a shit about him as a person and wanted him to succeed. Only hope Bam doesn't betray Tony's goodwill here.

I am kind of ok with Bam being in the games even if he was shoe-horned back into it by someone who wasn't the worst case scenario that Steve-o could have turned into. Even though you can go through this thread and see me say he is irredeemable, you shouldn't take away the positives that the person achieved in their life and what they have accomplished otherwise. He was infact a terrific skater and a world wide celebrity in the early 2000s and was a genius for the time to market himself. This does not take away at all from the current state of being a shit head but you also should not say that they were all negative. I would be lying if I said I didn't look forwards to watching a new Viva La Bam when I got home or enjoyed playing as Bam's goofy ass on Hawk games. It's more the principal than anything else. Anyone else agree?

That's one talent. "Making fun skate videos".

He made other fun videos.

Him and some of the other Jackass guys were sort of the proto-youtubers. I remember a video where Steve-O talks about climbing out of like a fifth story window for content because he would rather die than not be paid attention to, and Knoxville talking about how after they finished filming one of the movies he just kept filming himself sprinting into street signs because he didn't know what else to do with himself besides essentially self-harming for attention.

It really is a mental illness.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far in regards to his skating. He's a pretty good skater, but every single one of his peers shredded better and with more consistency than him, especially when liquor hit him hard. Skating culture in the 2000s was insufferable and it's entirely Bamuel's fault. He was the right guy at the right time, I'll give him that.

:story:
what a visionary
100% guarantee more people know him from Jackass and VLB than from skating.

Bam is the Arin Hanson of skaters. Once he figured out how to get people to pay attention to him without skating, he had no reason to skate anymore. Now that he burned all those opportunities, he's forced to skate again to get his fix.

Source: my ass.

Bam's skate videos spanned from 1998 to 2007, roughly. Pick any other skater from the THPS roster, take a skate part from this time, and compare. Hell, take any professional skate part from this era and compare. He will certainly not. He lived through a time of either the golden age or the second golden age of skate videos and did nothing to further the craft.

But he did bring us Raab himself in a jockstrap shitting at full speed.

Maybe this isn't the place and I'm not advocating cancel culture but why on earth would any company worry about Jesse James in a game? Was he even a skater? I remember him for having a hot, movie wife that he cheated on with a Maryln Manson looking girlfriend covered in ugly tattoos, literally wearing SS uniforms, doing the heil Hitler, with at least one shot of him in the picture.

If I'm a sales guy, what brand do we think wants to synergize with someone as retarded as Jesse James?

He was a reality tv star and had a crossover episode with Tony Hawk around that time where he built a half pipe on the back of a truck. That half pipe is in THUG 2 as a mission. I think they were trying to base the entire game around reality TV which was huge at the time.
