I recently got this game (specifically on last Christmas) and have been playing a bit of it almost every day since then. I've racked up a total of 24 hours played and I'm about to try to get the Rainbow Thread from the Dragon that has killed me twice now when I was lower level, but everyone is Level 29 now.

I have 15 potions, 5 Hi-Potions, 10 Bomb Fragments and Monk Agnes and Dark Mage Ringabel ready to use special attacks. Tiz is a White Mage, and Edea is a Knight.

How is everyone else here doing in the game, if you've played it?

I beat is quite soundly. Maxed everyone out in all classes, got all the various items, fought all of the bosses, and saw all of the endings. I look forward to Bravely Second.

Would you happen to have any tips or advice from your experience for players that aren't done?

Try out as many class combinations as possible, part of the fun of the game is finding crazy synergy between various classes, said synergies are pretty important for the optional mega-boss, and also makes many of the late-game fights a lot easier, like this one boss gauntlet you unlock near the end.

The best place to grind IMO is outside the snow city, fire weapons equipped, have everyone crescent twice.

And yeah, currently playing the Second demo- I'm all for friending anyone who wants attacks. I mean, when the game is out, you can't add Internet friends yet.

If there's an equivalent of the Free Lunch/ that one pirate move super kill attack, I won't know how to feel.

Also, if everything else fails, use Ninja/Sage.

Really great game, but it drags itself out in the later acts. Wish we could get bravely second already.

Absolutely adored BD. The battle and class systems were fantastic, the music was great, and I dug the style.

By the way, Spiritmaster is beyond broken, max that class ASAP when you get it.

I bought this game a while ago and I plan to play it when I have the time. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Speaking of that, one of my friends has the game.

He doesn't know anything about it, so when he entered Chapter 4, he started grinding.

6 months later, he got everyone to level 70+ and STILL hasn't beaten more than one boss.

I managed to beat chapter 4 without (much) grinding. Chapter 5 is where you really need to start grinding

It goes downhill at chapter 5
Chapter 5 and 6 could have been combined into one chapter since it drags, but that's also the point where the boss fights start getting more interesting. You can always just rush through and get to the better stuff, though.

I wish the crystal bosses were better, I thought those were lame the whole way through and my biggest gripe about the game, besides the simplistic dungeons.

So, some of these enemies are real bitches. Like the Chompers and the Khint guy. Both of them run away from the battle when you have a good shot at killing them. [Not to mention Chomper's weakness is Lightning, yet more than once I've cast lightning on them and did 1 damage.]

Thunder doesn't really work on them, especially not from someone with low magic and not using a magic boosting class.

Don't bother with them until you have a Job with high Aim and Agility [to maximize your high speed chances] and access to Thundara or other spells. If you don't mind wasting turns, though, just Brave a bunch of Sleeps [putting some of your characters at negative BP] and casting Thunder on each one individually with your strong mage to do so.

Oh, and make sure to equip good M.Atk stuff on the caster too. Maybe dual-wield if you can.

BD was one of the best games I had played in years. The last boss was really, really cool imo.

That redmage skill where you get BP for getting poisoned is OP. Three party members with that and pirate skills, plus a white mage with groupcast and you will have almost infinite turns and can auto even the last boss.

Update: Started chapter 3, everyone is level 37-38 overall. Team has a summoner (Agnes), a hunter (Tiz), a dark mage (still Ringabel), and a knight (still Edea).

Currently saving up Pg to purchase a new set of weapons in the Shieldbearers town.

Anyone else playing Second atm?

I'm trying to win a pointless mini game.
