Nah, Wu's used it a lot before this latest kerfuffle. She's very proud of "working in the backchannel".
Also: adding "enduring death threats" to the ever-growing list of things she's claimed to be a world-class talent in.

:wow: John usually isn't so brazen about trying to get bucks.

His attempt at getting VC fell through the floor, and no VC is going to touch him when they realize he serially misses all his self-published deadlines. But he still wants to have VC like one of the cool kids, so he will keep on trying.

Too bad. If only he celebrated International Women's Day the way Deadpool did!

It is a trendy buzzword for when you circumvent some of the policies and methods put in place to deal with complaints. So unsurprising Wu uses it because they behave as if they shouldn't have to use the peasant's route.

Basically Wu has some friends/acquaintances/useful idiots that she can whinge about things to, and they in turn may kick up any ideas that have merit.

Backchanneling can be very useful provided it is on a favours basis as those with the right ideas can be put in contact with the right people. It might sound corrupt but is relatively benign.

Wu doesn't and can't really offer any sort of favours and I begin to wonder how exactly she continues to have such wielding influence over at Twitter.

Her own attitudes and behaviours do not marry with the idea of her being a subtle figure influencing things behind the scenes. There's too much of a showman to Wu, always has been and probably always will be. If they more directly effected things in companies and corporations we would never hear the end of it. Ever.

It makes me wonder how many of these companies are adopting these policies (namely to be more ruthlessly meritocratic in their recruiting policies) entirely independent of any "back channels" that might have Wu comment on such matters.

High electronic tech is a relatively new industry, dating back 30 years at the most, this means that many of the original managers and leaders were fairly egalitarian to begin with, and are being replaced with bigger egalitarians as they begin to slowly retire. Which is what makes Wu's narrative so confusingly fascinating.

Wu's latching onto them being a woman the cause of their setbacks and perceived slights against their attempts in the tech industry rather than the fact they're just not very good remains amusing.

If there's one thing Flynt/Wu and his fellow travelers don't want, it's a meritocracy. Flynt/Wu's gross incompetence at everything from journalism to game design is a major reason that his entire life has been a three-ring clown show. He thinks that he -- and creatures like him -- should be leaders in tech for no other reason than that they really, really want to be.

Merit ain't in it.

If Flynt/Wu were to actually apply for a tech job and had to submit a resume that would be vetted, the job he'd get would involve answering a phone and asking people, "Is the device plugged in? Is the device turned on?" and so on down the decision tree in the big three-ring binder on his tiny desk in his tiny cubicle. Within a week, one of his fellow customer support "specialists" would kill him when he started sperging for the thousandth time about his career as a software engineer.

This is what makes her hilariously unsuitable for anything approaching a leadership role. People who dearly want it (rather than get there by accident or through grinding their way to get there) are ones who should be kept away from it the most.

It's really what makes the cult of the SJW so hilarious and explains why they continuously have to invent new labels to adorn themselves in. They're incompetent or useless to a fault and thus have to find their niche somehow.

That "I don't get a dime" is really grinding my gears for some reason.

As I think about it, there's really only one way to handle this lie.

1. Pay into her Patreon.
2. Wait for the lie to be exposed.
3. Sue based on false representation.

You might be able to skip step 2 if you were really ready to hand your lawyer a nice check.
