Setting aside the fact that only one of the Frank/John pair could contribute anything towards having a child, we all know the real reason John would be miserable as a parent. Part of being a good parent is having to give of yourself to raising your child, making sacrifices to ensure they're able to stand on their own when they reach adulthood. So you might not get to party like you used to, you might have to scale back on things you've planned for yourself, but the reward is all the experiences you get to have with your child.
