Cool John, by that time you had one full year to experience "structural sexism" as a "woman", holy shit!!! And did your company produce jack shit from 2007 (Halo 3's release) to 2013? Must have been from all the evil sexism, I bet!

Someone should tweet the asshole asking his opinions on ClearCase vs. Git, as someone with such a vast level of experience should have a few. This anecdote of course, is a complete fabrication. We all know this, but let me unpack that a bit and explain why I believe this to be the case:
- The term dev-ops, wasn't really a an actual term until 2008/2009, and wasn't really a designation until a bit later. Dev-Ops typically means sysadmin type support of the development and deployment process by people who don't really write the code in the product. A dev-ops person might handle the deployment of new builds, scripting and automation of dev, test, and production environments, as well as configuration management. Many of the modern tools considered to be primary tools of people who do what is now called dev-ops (puppet, chef, ansible) didn't really exist, or were in their infancy in 2007. While these tasks were something people did, even someone doing the role that is now called dev-ops back then would most certainly have had another title, and would most likely describe that past role based on that title... Unlesss of course the whole thing is a another lie.
- A few months ago, John was given access to a SVN repo which presumably had source code for his game. If John really had a dev-ops background, something like SVN wouldn't be a new an mysterious thing to him in way he made is sound when he went off about it on Twitter.
- John would be vastly disqualified for any such role
- Based on the known timeline of events, this claim of employment doesn't seem to add up.
- The idea of John actually working for some kind of paycheck seems patently absurd.
Dude I always used to wonder about amanda. The quiet dedicated competent straight shooter that hitched her wagon to brianna. What can Frank be thinking when he sees his wife telling these obvious lies, not just on twitter for self-aggrandisement, but in interviews and print as part of some greater fiction that she's a woman in tech. Wouldn't that be embarrassing? You'd think he'd have a quiet word with her to tone it down.
"Wupinions" works for me.
There's no need to state the obvious.Has anyone said "no you are not" when Wu pulls out the "I am an engineer" card?
Hey all. I tried to use this weird "vote by mail" form as a coupon at Target, but they wouldn't accept it. Do any of you know what the heck these things are for?I think it's set for early November. He was whining that he might not be able to vote on election day because of the surgery appointment and hospital stay
No, because no one knows who she is. For all they know (or care), she could be some sort of engineer.Has anyone said "no you are not" when Wu pulls out the "I am an engineer" card?

As usual, John makes a great point about what an absolute twat he is.
Chait has criticized political correctness before, so Wu's probably not the first loony troon to yell at him on twitter.
Engineering is basically applied science, and I have never heard anyone express a "dumb opinion" (or, indeed, any opinion) on thermodynamics or Ohm's law or the equations for calculating torque.
It's funny that Flynt/Wu's is so stupid that he actually wrote that people have "opinions on engineering issues," thus proving for the 4,382nd time that he is not an engineer. Engineering is basically applied science, and I have never heard anyone express a "dumb opinion" (or, indeed, any opinion) on thermodynamics or Ohm's law or the equations for calculating torque. What kind of "opinion" can anyone even have about such things?
No, you see, in all the many, varied projects John has worked on in his illustrious engineering career, he hasn't once met a project manager. You know, the unicorns of industry that have nothing to do with anything technical.I'm not an engineer, nor do I play one on Twitter, but engineers and lay people do have opinion on it. Not about the laws governing the science, but the designs and implementations of product. There's almost always more than one way to do something and the opinions would revolve around the most practical, efficient and cost effective solution. John doesn't care about any of that, just what color options it has and how expensive and trendy something is.
Do any of his followers on Twitter actually believe that this obviously simpleminded troon is an engineer? Are there people that stupid among us?
