Hah, Wu's article is out. It's in WaPo's PostEverything section, so basically a blog post. It goes on interminably and says basically nothing. Highlights include Wu's insistence that government should have the ability to force a recall on networking products if they aren't secure, and the fact that the information in Wu's byline is hopelessly out of date (dating back to a gamergate post she did in 2014) and doesn't include the fact she's supposedly a political candidate.
I like how his "About the Author" blurb tells you upfront that he isn't qualified in the slightest to comment on this subject. The article itself is the usual rambling, stream of consciousness Wu piece.
Also, there's that "games" thing again. John, just because you barely know how to use Google doesn't mean that the rest of the world can't figure it out.
He still busts out the ancient MySpace-esque photo because it's the only one where he looks vaguely feminine. Frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't the motorbike pic again.
Jesus Christ Wu needs to be hit in the face with the Associated Press Stylebook. This reads like a COJO 110 writing exercise that has yet to be edited, not an actual news article.
We're gonna get some great pictures from your EPIC Star Trek fundraiser soon, right John? Or did you and Frank flush another $40,000 of your dwindling war chest down the fucking toilet?
What the Fuck does John even think there is to be hacked in a VCR? I bet John thinks Nuke silos can be hacked. Thats about as possible as hacking a fucking VCR.
This reminds me of another mediocre quarterback. Tim Tebow. He made all the news about himself, too. He's not a quarterback any more. Where are the tears for him?
The VCR thing was pretty stupid, though. Nobody even makes VCRs any more. (The Mirai botnet did, however, hijack a number of Internet-enabled digital cameras among other Internet of Dumb Things devices.)
On the one hand, I understand the Internet of Things and how that can be a security risk, since they have lacklustre security and can be suborned to create DDOS attacks.
On the other, VCRs? That is not the first thing that comes to mind. DVD or Blu Ray player, yeah.

It probably happened because of Brianna just swapping words around when copying a source to create "original ideas", like a third grader writing an essay.
Compare this
Millions of webcams, VCRs, baby monitors and telnet services were seized and used to take down Twitter
the attacker harnessed some 150,000 "Internet of Things" (IoT) devices such as cameras, lightbulbs and appliances to overwhelm the systems of Dynamic Network Services Inc

Influence my hairy butt crack. It's a blog post. They source shit from random people on the internet because actual professional journalists cost money.
The only influence it took to get this published was whatever drug she was under the influence of when she wrote it.
right, the 21st century female diversity plug is a WAY better captain than the iconic 1960s captain kirk from the original series. completely sane and fair comparison.
...but not better than the other female captain.
and is also dead, so either John thinks a dead Asian woman is better than a black man or hasn't actually seen both episodes.
