Brianna Wu, 41, cast her ballot early Tuesday in Dedham, Mass., 45 minutes southwest of Boston, in the Democratic primary to represent the Massachusetts 8th district of the U.S. Congress. She then slipped out of town with her husband Frank, on a flight to an undisclosed location. It was several hours before the polls even closed.
"Well, if y'all aren't going to send me to Congress, then fuck you. I'm out."
What a sore loser.

Also, did we really need a picture of John that makes it look like he's not wearing pants, or only underwear? (EDIT: and his bra strap all the way down his arm on top of that) The media continues to troll him

What does that fat fucker know about local politics?

No cow makes me rage more than Bob, I swear.
Why, are you also a fat, basement dwelling diabetic who’s approaching 40 and has never touched a woman before? If you’re none of those things you’re doing a lot better than Blobb.

the fact that this fucking tranny got any vote at all is proof that your country is fucking sick and deserve to die
20% just what the fuck

I assume you're from a country with Ranked Choice voting, but in America there are 'strongholds' in heavily Republican or Democrat seats where ~20% of people will vote for a joke candidate as a matter or principle. Massachusetts is one - a lot of people, 2016 myself included, will write in a candidate or vote for the obvious joke to get away from the 'coronated' candidate (Lynch now, Hillary in 2016).

Wow, the lighting on the face is not doing him any favors. Also, the bra strap hanging down. :horrifying:

The optimists say that long time incumbent Steven Lynch got 70% of the vote with no effort.

The pessimists say that Brianna Fucking Wu got 20% of the vote with no effort.

What you say is true.

But the folks who are wrong are saying things like: this sends a warning to Lynch; this may cause Lynch to retire; a real progressive could beat Lynch.

John was just the victim (sorry, couldn't resist) of a crushing, humiliating, landslide defeat in a race where his opponent didn't spend a dime and never even mentioned John's name. As far as we know, Lynch didn't even run a whisper campaign against Transgender Godzilla's lack of any academic credentials or employment history or actual existence before 2007.

It would be fun to watch John campaign against an opponent who felt the need -- or even the sadistic urge -- to run a few attack ads.

The fact that John plans to run again is symptomatic of a clinically narcissistic level of hubris and egomania seldom seen on this planet or any other.

I'm just here trying to decide whether to indict the media, voters, incumbent, or electoral system more for the result. In no reasonable electoral system should someone as incapable as Brianna Wu make double-digits for even the primary of national office.

I noticed two things in that article that are quite telling.

First is the "openly queer" part. Apparently, seeing his most precious lie get put in the crossfire means he had to trot out an escape hatch in case he's ever accused of completely bullshitting about being a woman later.

A dumb one, but I get the logic.

More telling is how the Kiwi Farms is explicitly mentioned.

Since this was written by someone obviously friendly to Wu, and we know John demands advance notice of whatever bullshit is printed of him before release and freaks at anything that challenges any lie he's using at the time, he's gone the Jake Alley route and decided to try using the dangerhair defense "X site is full of horrible bastards" to try and discredit anything we say.

Systems made up of stupid actors can nonetheless arrive at smart decisions. Electing Lynch over Wu was a smart decision. I don't think it's a flaw in the electoral system that he got double digits as long as he still loses.

I suspect that naming and attempting to discredit us is motivated to a large degree by the fact that his former campaign manager posts here. John really doesn't want anyone reading @W person cow's tales of fear and loathing on the campaign trail with John Walker Flynt.

Playing devil's advocate, lets say she does decide to run again in 2020. What's her angle going to be?
Gamergate is already past its sell-by date, announcing yourself as a victim of gamergate in 2020 is just going to be embarrassing. Likewise, surely there's a statute of limitations on how long you can continue to claim a career when you haven't practised it in years. Can she really be game developer Wu in 2020? That'll be a good 4 years since she's last even pretended to work on a game.

Candidate for public office isn't a career. People are going to expect that she spends the next year and half in some sort of public service, but you absolutely know that she won't. I bet she won't even attend local Democratic party meetings. I really can't see how she's going to pull off the next year or so, she can't really maintain a public profile doing nothing at all. If she starts scrounging for donations again, I expect people to sour on her very quickly.

Yo, @Kroster I guess now the elections are over you're probably done with us for the time being, but can you do us a favour... if you hear anything about Wu actually engaging with local politics come drop us a line every few months. It'll be interesting to see if she really has learned anything from this election cycle.

none of that matters if your campaign isn't real and you're just doing it for vanity and twitter points. Wu wouldn't be the first novelty candidate that just runs every cycle with no chance whatsoever of running.

Did someone Photoshop Wu's teeth out, or does every picture I see of them just get worse.

Lol likely bought the ticket a week ago. Nice closer for any portion of that %20 that thought Wu may have really entertained any thoughts of winning.

I know what John will do for the next couple of months on his “staycation”:
  • Spend tons of Frank’s money on pay to win mobile games and brag about beating Trumpkins.
  • Whine about all the harassment he received running for Congress as a true and honest woman and the bias he received from the media (even though it’s non existent but that’s never stopped Brianna Wu from lying).
  • Spend tons of Frank’s money on Porsche mods and eventually brag about his $100k Porsche to let everyone know how much better he is than them because his husband has some money.
  • Do softball interviews with garbage outlets like Vox, Buzzfeed, NYT etc about what it’s like to be a woman running for Congress (hint it will be harassment harassment harassment)
  • Probably get some new speaking gigs at more unknown, small universities to talk about harassment harassment harassment.
  • Tweeting if anyone has a copy of Running for a Congress for Dummies and if someone can connect him with a campaign manager who knows MA-8 (again).
  • Bitch and moan about how misogynist local democrats are in MA-8.
  • Start tweets with “as a woman running for Congress I...” or “as a congressional candidate I...”
Anyway just standard operating procedure for Brianna Wu.

I find your rebuttal frustrating as one who has frequently respected your thoughts in the past. You claim to rebut the argument that Lynch is vulnerable to a primary challenge in future, but you only rebut the idea that John could mount that challenge.

John is not a factor in 2020. Forget him. He was the beneficiary of a Bill & Opus vote, as was Viehl, and he won't likely get that again...especially if Lynch has a real primary challenger in 2020.

I don't necessarily think the optimal challenger is a "real progressive". Ocasio-Cortez won't sell in large portions of District 8. However, if Lynch is in the race and someone is to challenge him, it'd have to be from a position to the left of his own; that's about the only ground you can stand on with respect to him and still hope to get Democrat votes. How far left, and in what ways, is a more interesting question.

Trans rights won't sell. Boosting the tech economy won't sell. Support for working families? Now you're talking. Getting people concerned about public works projects? If they employ the local working class, hell yes.

I don't view this result as Wu winning anything for himself. He got carried by a compliant press and Warren Lynch's energy to a better outcome than he had any right to expect. Wu didn't overperform; Lynch underperformed. And if he is presented with a stiffer challenge in 2020, he'll have to spend real time and money to fight it, unlike this time.
