Lets not forget that John literally read a poorly translated joke in a Japanese magazine about Metroid that said "What's a secret about Samus Aran only I [the guy who did the backgrounds in Super Metroid] know? She's secretly a shemale," took that, and tried to start a campaign to try and force Nintendo to turn one of their more popular B-list IP stars into a troon. And lost his fucking MIND when GamerGaters found the interview he was citing and reached out to some Japanese GGers, who pointed out "Newhalf" is a term from Japanese gay clubs in the 1970s and BTFO'd his sorry ass over John's use of it...

I will concede on Poison though, she was listed as a newhalf back when Final Fight came out in the arcade and changed to a dude on consoles. However those shenanigans are more on Capcom's continual unwillingness to commit to anything than any "phobias" .

The theory, as far as we could figure, was that if not for the evil [buzzword soup which usually boiled down to "FUCK YOU DAD"] that something like 50% of people would be "nonbinary" (which isn't real), "genderfluid" (again, isn't real), "genderqueer" (not real), or transsexual (a mental illness and fetish), and the only reason they aren't is a systemic effort to oppress anyone who dares step outside of "the gender roles."

It's literally a matter of time before Substack magically loses it's ability to process funds. I suspect the only reason it hasn't yet is they're waiting for Revue/Twitter to be ready for the influx of users.
Timeline will be: Revue goes invite only beta for certain blue checks using Substack; Substack loses payment processing ability (or web hosting) for hatespeech; Twitter/Revue goes public.
It'll be so magically optimized to benefit Twitter you'd be amazed to hear it was all a complete coincidence.

Twitter’s equivalent of Substack will be a joyless slog that will have no problem kicking writers off its platform for violating whatever tenet of groupthink has been instituted ten minutes ago. All it will take is a few blue check marks claiming they feel unsafe and that will be that.

IIRC wasn't the Poison thing a result of Nintendo refusing to let Final Fight get a US release with Poison in the game (due to Nintendo not wanting male on female violence in their games) and Capcom retconning Poison trans in a half-hearted attempt to avoid having to make even further gratuitous changes to the game to appease Nintendo (who had already forced them to cut one playable character and an entire stage at that point)? And that after Nintendo still said "no", Capcom said "Fuck it!" and officially made Poison trans due to them having boxed themselves into a corner telling Nintendo that she was trans?
