A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Why do they give so much of a shit about plan 2 loans?
Plan 1 loans are just as much of a piss take.

I wonder if its some obscure regulation that says they must use Y because "muh gaia" instead of X which works but technically more polluting.

Or it could just be good old corruption.
They're just dumping a lump of tarmac into the hole when they should be cutting out and properly patching it, because the latter costs more in time and equipment. It's plain old laziness and budget cutting.

I have never been happier to go all in on the schizo datahoarding idea.

72TB of hard drives filled to the brim with every album, movie and TV show that I want to watch, along with every video game I want to play knowing that the government cannot force me to verify my age to consume it.

My ultimate goal is creating an additional NAS that's pure solid state storage that can be upgraded further and further and cost pennies to run.

They are filling the potholes. The problem isn't that none are being filled. It's that what they're filling them with doesn't work. We had one filled down our road like 2 weeks ago and it's already back. They're pulling some chink shit where the material is so bad it reopens almost immediately.
And how they repair them. You can't fix a pothole by pouring material into it, as it won't adhere to the material already down. It has to be cut away to a nice square, sealant-like substance added to the existing tarmac - while hoping that isn't also cheap chink shit, then the new stuff poured in and allowed to set.
They don't do that, they just wang shit in either through laziness or incompetence and leave it.

Edit : beaten to it by @teriyakiburns

Big Suspension and Big Tyre are colluding with local councils to keep themselves in business.
Said tongue in cheek but there are more benefits for the council to not fix the potholes, than there are benefits to fixing them.

Why do they give so much of a shit about plan 2 loans?
I think it's because the original plan of Plan 2 loans was that after X years the debt gets wiped and we're drawing a lot closer to that date which would see an absolute shitshow of debt being wiped at the expense of the taxpayer. Plan 2 loans folk graduated into the 2008-11 recession and many of whom literally never got started on the job market and are still earning less than 30k

I think I’m going to LARP as a Restore insider
I was gonna do the same thing for real, but my background check came back and I'm not raycis enuff :(
I'm hearing that the former Norwegian PM has attempted suicide because of the Epstein investigations. What it is the youths say? Likes charge reblogs cast?

Haven't done this already? You may as well start now and host it all on an old PC.

I have, the idea was I want to upgrade it further when/if SSD prices ever fall again.

I was so pissed off, there was a point where Samsung were releasing 8TB SSD drives and then AI expansion basically saw those go off the market and Moore's law might as well not exist now because even if it does and Samsung are making SSDs with double the capacity they're going into enterprise servers, with consumers not getting a whiff of them. Had I scooped them up back then I'd actually have ended up making a killing.

Now if I want 8tb of solid state storage my only options are M.2 drives at ONE THOUSAND FUCKING POUNDS.

Even the Chinese can build roads, seemingly it's just the Perfidious Island Anglo where this is seemingly a technology lost to time.
Walking along a well-built Chinese road in a down-at-heel African nation, with a gaggle of the local children following behind, pulling their eyes aslant and crying out "China! China!" because from their point of view a White man looks the same as an Asian man, never ceased to amuse me.

Is Cuties on Netflix UK? I know that's going in the random quote thread, but it would be interesting how many things you could complain about and see what the government bites on. Back in the day websites like 4chan would have had a field day with the complaint system.

Man does random text even get updated? I swear I get the same ones all the time

If Euphoria S3 ever releases, Ofcom is going to be flooded with complaints.

I keep getting those gov ads about Online Misinformation, the best one I've seen so far is the young lad who gets tweets that say anxiety isn't real :story:

If Ofcom can’t track me down trolling paki security guards by broadcasting on their radio channels illegally with a cheap Chinese radio then they’re going to fail trying to control the internet.

I think SSD for this volume of storage has never been cost-efficient. Especially as to be safe you need two drives in case of failure.

Given that you don't need high speeds for playback of video, you can get yourself a 5400rpm Seagate with 8TB for < £200 new which is a fifth the price of equivalent SSD. Which as you say, have gone through the roof because AI does need SSD speeds - or at least benefits significantly from them.

You can get a 20TB Seagate for £380 on scan.co.uk

Little off topic, probably. But if we give it a week, the government will probably ban large hard drives as a measure to stop people generating Amelia videos so it'll be on topic soon enough.

That fucking film. I never watched it and thought optimistically that just maybe it was over-exaggerated and perhaps was criticising the subject matter a la Lolita or something. Then ShoeOnHead did a video of it and showed a clip with very large stars placed over parts of the screen and even that was enough to make me feel sick.

Fuck Netflix.

I saw clips. It is children dancing and filmed like they're slutty adult pop videos. It's fucking weird.

You jest, but I wouldn’t put it past them to make the required hardware and/or the stuff needed restricted, for your own safety, or something similar.
By 2030, owning a vpn or a non-hobbled graphics card will probably be a crime

Yep, restrictions on high end graphics cards are definitely coming. It will be a sad day when I have to show the cex worker my gaming licence to buy a used 4060 ti.
