(I haven't read through this thread yet, but I saw this story mentioned on another site and vaguely recalled we had a thread on him.)

What I want to know is, who on earth just carries around a metal baseball bat with them? That's kind of oddly specific.

The Internet seems to be salivating over this guy getting attacked, but while I don't know exactly what he preaches, I thought we'd progressed beyond attacking "heretics" as a human race. This is just sad. I mean, I don't like some clergy either, but you can't just go and attack someone. :x

It's not good or a nice thing, but if you spend every waking moment walking up to random people and screaming at them that they're whores and faggots and every other fucked up thing you can think of, one of them is eventually going to hand you your ass just because they've had it with your shit.

Whoever did it is guilty of a crime of course, but it's going to be hard to find a jury that has no sympathy whatsoever.

Brother Dean didn't get clobbered because of his beliefs, but because he screams these beliefs at people like the maniac he is, and because said beliefs include that women who don't dress modestly deserve rape.

Everything about you screams "coward". You chose to preach to a school because you thought kids won't fight back. You told young schoolchildren they're about to be raped and wear that as a badge of honour, when the Christian thing to do would be turning the other cheek and letting the girl hit the other side of your face. Instead, you pussied out like a little bitch and you didn't even bother editing that out in the video. Some warrior of God you are!

Yes he has, but this is the only time that it's been for assault. I looked through some case stuff online, and found some pages that referenced other times Dean has run in with the law. I found five total cases. Of these, one was an innocent judgement, and two were dismissed. The other two are a bit more interesting.

I agree that there needs to be action taken against the girl who attacked him. But on the other hand, I really wish she would have hit him harder.

Had a completely different question brought up by the video. From lurking, you seem like you know the US justice system. Are their laws about videotaping minors without consent? Especially when he then posted it on the internet.

I only ask since I know at my daycare job there was a lot of legalese to go through. If we weren't allowed to photograph them, then they were left omitted. Better safe then sued. Though as I live in Canada, it may work a bit different.

I kind of want to know what church this kid attends and what his fellow churchgoers think about his behavior.

Anyways, I can see what he's trying to do. He's trying to convert people by shocking them. He thinks getting as much attention as possible is a good way to get people to hear about Jesus. He genuinely thinks he's doing the right thing, he's just super misguided.

It looks like there has been a few more articles written about Dean's arrest. Looks like the campus decided back in October to ban him from campus. I have also checked up on his online footprint, the twitter is suspended and the blog is now password protected. So our little street preacher is pretty much in complete hiding while he waits for legal consequences for the assault he was arrested for.
