Bubsy Making a Possible Return, Starting on Steam

I think it also has a lot to do with "why does Bubsy get a chance to return while more iconic franchises are left in the dust?". At least from what I hear, the earlier entries in the series are at least playable, if unremarkable, and then you get to Bubsy 3D, which bears no mention.

Meanwhile, we may never get another proper Bomberman.

We will, but it will be on mo-oh wait, yeah we will most likely never get another proper Bomberman.

I don't even remember this shit. This is like trying to revive one of the million Pac Man clones.

Ironically, I remember Ms. Pac Man, baby Pac Man, Super Pac Man, but don't remember Bubsy. (Or wouldn't if JonTron hadn't skewered him in that retro review).

I'd rather play a gimmicky retread of an arcade classic than a gimmicky retread wannabe Sonic who never had charm to start with. It takes more than being a 25 year old franchise to have retro appeal.

If you had to grow up with Bubsy, I'm sorry. If you had to grow up with Bubsy 3D, sue your parents.
I had to grow up with Back to the Future on Nes and it made me the woman I am today. (Not really because I had other games)

I had Total Recall on the NES at one point. Pure crappy game through and through...

And I only knew of the original and Bubsy 2. I didn't know about the cartoon or Bubsy 3D (A Playstation didn't interest me at the time). No one knew about Jaguar Bubsy because the Jaguar sucked.

Rather grow up with Bubsy 3D than grow up with Sonic games you won because of a sweepstake.

Bubsy sucked in every medium, and things sure as shit won't change now.

Freemium iPhone is too good for this series.

It'll be a cold day in hell before Bubsy crawls back into the public eye again.

His "purr-sonality" is literally just cat puns. That's all he is. And his games are incredibly contrived.

I don't even think people want him back ironically. Unless they're gluttons for disappointment.

As for the bobcat, they really need to embrace his status as a prime example - practically a personification - of the 90's game mascot kick.
Admitting your game is the most generic one of its kind isn't going to move copies.

The thing with the 90's animal mascot craze is that they were (seen as) cool at the time but now they're outdated and stupid. There's a reason Mario has persisted in popuarity over the years and that's beacause the characters are timeless and can be put in a lot of situations (Mario Kart, various Mario sports, platforming video games, Mario Paint, Mario Maker, Smash Bros (while not exclusively Mario) you can't really do that with Sonic, also Sonic has mostly become an internet punchline for all but the really autistic

I think the only 90's animal mascot that holds up in modern day is Banjo and Kazooie, but that may be because their game was fun and had a lot of love put into it, you could tell they had fun coming up with concepts and characters.
