Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot in the Works, With Black Lead Actress - WE WUZ SLAYERS

No problem with the actress being black, just disappointed that it is just another reboot thing.
I get it, those shows were popular, so bring it back to make money again. Wouldn't be the first reboot ever done.

It is just getting annoying, cause for being considered woke and progressive, none of these people can really escape the mold of entertainment created by others.
Everything they do just feels like going back to something already popular and then stamping their name on it for validation.

You want to do Buffy again? Why not make it a sequel show and let the new "vmapire hunter" be her own identity?
Ignoring the comics continuing Buffy, the show made it clear that Buffy divided her power through magic to women all over the world. So just make it now about someone tapping into the power and becoming her own hero with own identity.

Instead you just do what? Buffy from the Hood?

There are literally so many workable alternative options to this retarded idea that I can't believe they're going through with it.

If anyone is reading the comics (they're pretty mediocre btw), Whedon has been sloppily attempting to wrap everything up in just four issues.

He's literally rushing the original series out the door to make way for his new woke power fantasy.

So wait, is black Buffy a literal replacement for blonde Buffy or are they the same person?

Not sure yet. Whedon seems to be hinting at alternate universes.

Great. So in a few years he will begrudingly whine about the "awesome" crossover between the old and the new show he wanted to make, but the "evil" Sarah Michelle Gellar had enough of him and then the Ggators ruined the nielsen ratings.

With that in mind, there was actually a black slayer around during the 80's who was slain by Spike, Netflix loves its period nostalgia, so why not do a season on that chick instead of pulling a black man's flayed skin over Buffy's face?

Honestly, that could have made an awesome show, and it would have been 'woke' as fuck without having to deliberately social justice it up. A badass black single mom (her son showed up in the original show; after she died he was raised by her Watcher) fighting monsters in the 70s/80s while wearing that awesome leather jacket (that Spike stole). Perfect 'strong female protagonist' material and totally canon to the original show.

But no, we have to do a racially swapped reboot because trying to come up with original ideas make Hollywood brains hurt. I swear I've come to hate all reboots on principle now.

I don't even care about making the main character of a reboot series black instead of the original white (or whatever), it honestly doesn't bother me. Who cares if the Slayer is black or white; what matters in the story is that she's the Slayer. What does bother me is how 'woke' shit is continually used in the laziest way to draw attention to creatively bankrupt media properties. It's practically tokenism all over again with a new coat of paint (or blackface, if you want to look at it that way).

The Buffy "petite blonde chick is actually a killing machine" subversion doesn't work this way, obviously. Of course it wouldn't work anymore anyway since it's become a cliché. But her being black kind of ruins the whole premise.

According to lore it absolutely can. The reason why each slayer is so young is because they die so young. Most of them don't live past 30, except for Buffy who killed off all of the most powerful vampires ever along with the very concept of evil itself in one fell swoop. Besides, they literally said Buffy is just black now because reasons. Because of Buffy's actions in the last episode, literally every woman on Earth has the slayer powers now, not just her. All women everywhere are officially stronger than men.

There is absolutely no reason for this at all.
It wasn't every single woman on Earth, just every potential slayer.

Charmed and Roswell will probably end up just as woke. They'll likely throw a troon in there or something. They can put a troon amongst the Charmed sisters. I can see them trying that.

Why do they need to resurrect this stuff for new audiences? Why not just add to the universe with a new but related series occurring in the same universe? Something that's connected but doesn't require you seeing the whole older series to understand?

And what the hell kinda black girl is named Buffy?

Probably should rename her something like this:

I see that they picked the whitest possible persons of color who aren't Rachel Dolezal or Talcum X.

I wonder who the new target audience is supposed to be. The old one was watched by normie middle class, middle aged white women, the people "too classy" to watch soaps, but who still want to watch some shitty soaps. 45 year old white Harry Potter fans will probably still watch it anyway, but I really doubt this is going to be the thing that makes black people enjoy magic wizard shit.
