Whatever happened to actual punishment in games? (this is of course rhetorical, I know exactly what happened) Like, launch 2004 World of Warcraft you could get corpse-camped pretty regularly and have to either risk rez-jumping farther and farther until you got away, or eat a 10-minute "you can't do shit" debuff rezzing at the graveyard. And WoW was honestly impossible to backpedal on. Older MMOs like Everquest actually de-levelled you and you could lost the entire night's worth of exp gains or more by one effective mobtrain, Star War Galaxies had player bounty hunting and permadeath/item destruction/long-term injury recovery as actual game mechanics. There was some high stakes hacking and baiting/robbery done in Diablo 2 also.

FPS and MOBAs ain't shit.

Though EVE honestly doesn't have any "hardcore" rules like most MMOs, the one really notable thing you can get banned for is somehow surviving the in-game police that protect the high-security areas. I think mostly anything goes beyond that.
But yeah, you can still get fucked over hardcore by scam artists who know what they're doing. Imagine the impotent rage these self-righteous fucks may feel upon being called into a low-/nullsec area in EVE only to find they're basically powerless.

God, why do people think too deep about FPS games? The genre is based around shooting and stabbing. Just play a different genre if you don't like the fact some people start roleplaying. And a big chunk of the people who do this are minors.
