‘THE SIMS 4’ RUMOR: WHY BURGLARS ARE NOT PART OF THE GAME AND MIGHT NEVER BE
SEPTEMBER 21, 2017

The infamous black and white-clad burglar is one of the most glaring omissions from The Sims 4, and a new rumor suggests that Electronic Arts had a reason why they did not include the non-playable character in the game.

Some gamers who have been following the Sims franchise for a while now might find it odd that the burglars are still missing from the installment, especially since there were a lot of opportunities for EA to add them through the downloadable content (DLC) packs released for the life simulation hit.

The Sims forums member TOLKIEN, who has proven himself to be a reliable source of all things Sims-related due to his connection to an employee at EA Sports, has revealed that the exclusion of burglars, who sneak onto a lot and steal items from a house (but can usually be foiled with a burglar alarm), was done with sensitive players in mind

While this will seem like too much for some, especially since previous installments of The Sims featured burglars, TOLKIEN’s source noted that this has to do with the fact that the game was made “for a new generation.”

“A team of producers surrounded by people OF that generation [would] point out that the invasion of their home or safe place could create feelings of discomfort or possible even triggering.”

This could also be the reason theGet to Work game pack released forThe Sims 4 a couple of years ago only provided players the ability to investigate crimes and not necessarily experience one.

“If you look at the overall goofy nature of much of The Sims 4, I could certainly see some truth in creating a safer, happy experience forSims players. Certainly being the victim of a burglary would be the opposite.”

Whether this means that burglars will never find their way to The Sims 4 remains to be seen at the moment, but if this rumor is anything to go by, fans should not count on it.

Sims Community, on the other hand, made mention of the fact that in The Sims 4, vampires tend to knock on the doors of the players’ Sims in the middle of the night, which is deemed somewhat invasive and somehow in line with what burglars do. Of course, this warrants an entirely different discussion.

Either way, gamers should not get their hopes up about the burglars coming to The Sims 4, although TOLKIEN himself warns them to take this with a pinch of salt, especially since he has no clue “how much of this was embellishment on my friend’s part,” who he described as someone who loves to “make a point.”

Why have no other companies tried making a Sims clone? Is it just too big of a task and not worth the effort? Sims 4 is a huge let down for people that have been long time players.

Probably the same reason why Cities: Skylines didn't happen straight away. The Sims is way too big a cultural behemoth to even compete at the mo, if another company is working on a Sims clone, then they're waiting for a widely panned version to come out before releasing it.

Can you still barbecue babies?
Even autismo Chris Chan was traumatized as an adult by a house fire.

I can't say I've been broken into before but I can attest fires are god awful so I can't weigh what's worse but if you want a magic happy life perfect play land, one can make your TV go missing (in a video game mind you) the other can kill you as well as probably will destroy more than just a TV.

Reactions: Burgers in the ass
And here I am thinking their rationale was that they were afraid to offend past and present criminals.

I could see this happening. Players want a more “mature” and realistic life simulator than the style Maxis goes for, so maybe there’s room in the market for that.

‘Course the best life simulator is, well, life

I just want to fuck around with my ugly creations and brutally kill them off one by one, is that too much to ask for?
I believe there’s a mod called “extreme violence” for just this kind of thing, but I haven’t downloaded it yet. From what I saw you could stab, punch and do other villainous things to your sims.

EA:

"You didn't sell an arbitrary amount of copies over 4 million and we rushed your third game, in which we ignored the fan base and stuffed it with microtransactions? Kill the IP, burn the studio down and cancel all their games."

"Mass Effect? We don't give a shit. We will mismanage it because it's a dead franchise and then hand it off to a newbie studio with no AA A experience while ignoring the fanbase. It bombed? Kill the franchise and dissolve the studio"

"We should simplify Sim City, remove everything that everyone liked and include an always on component forced on the Dev team. Also nobody likes building big cities so let's shrink the map. Oh, our instructions caused the game to sell like shit? Dissolve the studio. Their fault."

"Let's ignore all complaints about Battlefront 2, make it pay2win and add an energy timer for a game mode."

"OH NO BURGLARS ARE TRIGGERING, QUICK WE MUST LISTEN TO OUR AUDIENCE WHO ARE SUCH BIG PUSSIES THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IMAGINE THEM FUNCTIONING IN THE REAL WORLD. WE MUST LISTEN"

EA continues to be the worst publisher by a mile. Thank god they've killed every franchise I care about so I don't have to give them money.

Holy fuck EA is garbage.

There's an AMA on Reddit with an oldfag CDProjektred dev and according to him before they got really big they pitched the Witcher series to EA and among their demands were multiplayer, censoring the nudity, and making Geralt female.

There are modders out there that do the job of reducing or removing the burglar rate entirely (or even the scary little tone that plays to alert you), don't devoid others who want a challenge to their game by removing that aspect entirely.
Burglars are just there to be a nuisance, they're not even that realistic.

This is the Sims 4 gender settings screen.

Oh good lord...

It's worse than I thought. I never would have imagined that toilet preferences would be part of the gender selection. I'm actually surprised that feminine and masculine are used for clothing and body preferences instead of trying to skirt around it with different wording. You know someone out there did indeed get triggered by those two terms. Good things sims don't speak human language. Because then we'd have to deal with pronouns too.

how does this effect the voice? Or do you set the pitch yourself? It's been so long since I played a Sims game that I can't remember how it works.
