Even retired teachers can be full of themselves and spiteful. Here's a man who hates the very thing he's passionate about. He says he's into amateur radio, yet he criticizes every other amateur radio enthusiast.

He reminds me of CoolDudeClem in a way. He think he's above everyone else, yet he isn't very imprerssive himself. He gets into SJW territory in the following video:

Someone was kind enough to splice his comments to prove that Burt hates himself. If he has so many negative things to say about the hobby he had for nearly his whole life, why devote any time or effort into that in the first place?

Can you imagine spending thousands of dollars and thousands of hours on a hobby over 50 years and having so much contempt for it?

I used to derp around with ham radio back in the day, in fact, I still have my callsign. The thing to remember about amateur radio is that it's really like the internet of our parents' and grandparents' generation - you get a transceiver and antenna, and presto, you can talk to all kinds of random people around the country (or if conditions are good, around the world). And just like the internet it attracted its fair share of spergs and lolcows, especially ones of a more technical bent.

The difference between the internet and ham radio, though, is that it's not 'Nam...there are rules. And occasionally a few of the biggest spergs have fallen afoul of the FCC, who generally turns a blind eye to spergery on the amateur radio bands, but when they come down, they come down hard. Like this guy, who earned himself a lawsuit from the feds and a $20,000+ fine: http://www.arrl.org/attachments/view/News/55250 (note link goes to a PDF because that's all I could find)

I just feel bad for this guy. He seems like one of those unhappy old men who has to insult everything and everyone around him to take his mind off his own misery.
