I just got back into this thread, after a thread on 4chan of the MAME dev seething over retroarch over something.
Apparently Retroarch is blamed over other projects dying or something. Now retroarch is blamed over byuu's alleged suicide(For which as far as i understand there is still no proof). The real question is "Does Retroarch is Null?". In this case null your front end for emulation sucks, fix it.
On a more serious note why would anyone be surprised over Byuu's suicide? I am in fact surprised more of these people dont commit suicide more often. Seriously hear me out:
* From a young age most of these people sat inside on a computer all day, not having relationships with real people in school , Sunday school clubs, extracurricular clubs or anything.
* They spent all that time inside talking to people online, maybe on Forums initially then IRC,(these days its just discord). Which is not really a social relationship considering most people on those places are just as big losers as them.
* Most of them are autistic, which is a big issue! Do you know how hard it is for an autistic person to follow social queues? I have a friend with Aspergers, It actually took time for him to understand what he is doing wrong, even with me explaining it.
* Most of them extremely horny men which are honestly a dangerous situation(look: prison)
Combine all that with what we know about these communities(trans grooming,sexual deviancy, furries, drugs). All of a sudden it becomes very clear. Byuu was not killed nor pushed to suicide. It was a slow process that started ever since he was a kid. I actually have a friend who is in a similar situation and i worry every time i think about him that he will send me a message on steam announcing he is now trans or something.

That's a large percentage of the furry community. You don't see furries killing themselves left and right just because of these factors. It takes a lot to drive someone to suicide over time, and not just because they're a social fuckup. Alone, they're not enough to off yourself over. To us, Byuu had no truly justifiable reason to want the thread taken down so badly that he'd kill himself over it, especially with the thread having been silent for years. It is reasonable to guess that something in the real world is being affected by the thread (such as getting hired), hence why he tried bribing Null to take it down. There's no legal evidence to suggest he's killed himself. My being contacted by the Department of State and contacting the U.S. Embassy in Japan and a police department located in the area he was last reported to reside in resulted in evidence supporting the claim that he is not dead. There is no evidence to support that he is dead.

There are people who are perfectly capable of being weirdos at home and normal IRL, i would say the majority of them but i am not so sure these days.

Is this level of extreme fragility "normal" among these devs? Frankly I'm just sitting here amazed. "Short and quippy" criticism is abyuuse, worthy of Byuuicide?
Just to confirm for my own understanding, the devs in the emulator scene are typically unpaid volunteers, right? Because honestly these people wouldn't even get through one single code-review in a professional development environment without flipping out. They wouldn't last a week.
And I'm not even talking about high-pressure development like the games industry. With this attitude they wouldn't even survive in the slow, plodding, low-pressure corporate environment, if they consider any amount of questioning or criticism to be LiTeRaL vIoLeNcE.

I think it's the transgenderism part that connects to it. Gonna go out on a limb and wager that transgender furries, or furries that can't perceive the inescapable instincts that men/women have respectively, are a lot more emotionally unstable and sensitive to an excess amount.
