InactiveByuu / byuu_nyan / setsunakun0 / Near / David Ginder - "Non-binary" furry programmer who wrote a Super Nintendo emulator, tried to blackmail Null into removing his thread, and is probably actually dead lol
With byuu being almost certainly still alive, it would be interesting to find out which persona he has taken on since. I don't think you would have to look far since he didn't have many friends. I believe it's likely he is working with Hector Martin on Asahi Linux. He might be @AsahiLina, a Twitter account that was created around the time he tried to erase his tracks.
Honestly, this might be for the best. Asahi Linux looks like it'll be a useful project, and it's good he's out of all of this internet drama and just quietly doing what he's good at: programming. Being a twitter v-tuber is still major faggot material though.
If that vtuber really is byuu then i look forward to the stream where he starts messing around with SNES emulation.
P.S. to anyone who wants to figure this shit out good fucking luck, i just watched their newest stream to check for a slip up, and not only is it 11 fuck-ing hours long, not shmorky doesn't talk for most of it leaving the video with LONG stretches of silence while he reads coding instructions from the apple m1 chip.
Based on comments I'm seeing on some of these tweets, Lina Asahi "hacked" into Hector's stream as an April 1st joke. Charitably, this is a reference to that.
(see: https://youtu.be/OwU4dKig72Q?t=1369)
The voice is obviously fucked up either because tranny voice, voice mod, or both.
It is literally the only stream of his under several hours, it was obviously a setup to promote Lina. Curious, but not conclusive.
It could also be an extremely on the nose reference to Lina being Byuu/Near/David Kirk Ginder making a comeback? That might be a reach, it might not be.
The timing is certainly interesting, given that this seems to show up all of a sudden in April of this year just after the anticipated update to the US Deaths Overseas list failed to materialize. The more conspiracy minded among us would perhaps suspect this group is cover for Byuu as Lina to make a quiet comeback under a pseudonym while shielded by group identity, but waiting until there's at least a good chance of a 6 month buffer before the next update to the list in the hopes that things can be established before anyone looks too hard.
All we can be pretty sure of is that Lina and Hector claim to be different people, and I would tend to agree as I don't think that Hector Marcan is the type to abandon his existing platform for an anime girl facecam, even if he will participate in a conspiracy to cover up a fake suicide of his friend.
Edit: Better sleuths than I have better substantiated guesses that this is in fact Marcan so unless there's evidence contradicting that I'll go with it, the pitch shifted audio and the presence /home/marcan convinces me unless there's some way things could be networked that would explain that reasonably.
"We" have a discord server that isn't public yet. "We"
I wonder if Lina always runs the voice mod...?
Something for the discord literate among us to keep an eye out for.
Edit:
Bonus bonus content I just noticed on the debut stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LonzMviFCNs): "Alyssa" is an interesting breadcrumb, but the fact that the commit needs a real name is of interest.
And found the "Alyssa", a troon of course:
archive.ph/a5xgz
Given all the M1 video driver tweeting + troon I can see why people assume this might be Lina.
Reverse GISing the profile picture takes us back to 2017 though, before Byuu would reasonably be creating this identity at least to my way of thinking, so the chances that Alyssa = Byuu are near zero.

No clue if they're the same person but what fucking makes me laugh is all the bios for these streaming personas are like "OOOH SHE'S REALLY CUTE AND FRIENDLY BUT ALSO A HACKER! MAN DON'T GET ON HER BAD SIDE!" and "WOAH BEST GAME DEV EVER!" in various wordings. There's a difference between having a character as an avatar when you're streaming shit and blowing smoke up your own ass about how great you are at geme dev and hacking in some bio for your avatar. Most game dev stuff online is just people explaining how stuff works with none of this twitter troon ass "queer software achievement" shit attatched. I miss when queer just meant weird and not twitter/corporation term for gay people. The fact so many twitter types EXCLUSIVELY use corporate middleman speak for literally everything whenever possible just makes them look like skinwalkers or robots lmao.

@HarblMcDavid threw your post up on the community happenings to get some more eyes on it to look into this a bit more, and also because anyone who lived through the Nearpocalypse will probably be interested.
Has there ever been any recorded samples of Byuu's voice to do a comparison? Possible in the future Byuu will either slip up during a live segment or voice call on discord and have it off.
Yeah… none of them are bio-fems. Asahi Lina (possible Byuu) is definitely doing a voice and/or using a tool… he sounds like Elmo.
A video where Lina is speaking fluent Japanese: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ksM0t4K_R8 - Was Byuu fluent? I seem to remember that he wasn't but I might be misremembering.
Re Rosenzweig, he insists in several tweets he's not Lina, and his web site has a resume where the dates don't match up to Byuu's age and Japanese is not listed in the languages section.
It's all circumstantial so far, but it certainly seems plausible that Asahi Lina is Byuu. Do we have any recordings of Byuu anywhere? I searched YouTube but didn't find anything promising.
The voices don't seem to match up to me, but yes, they are both using KDE configured with a thick window-tracking bar (whatever that thing is called) at the bottom with four virtual desktops, both using Katie as an editor with a similar layout, both using Zsh…
Oh, I just caught something very interesting. Both using Zsh configured similarly, and both working on a system called "raider." From Hector's April 1 stream:
I can't think of a reason why the two would have the same system name unless either they're working on the same system, or Asahi uses that name as a default or something like that. Has Marcan shown any hints of trooning out previously?
EDIT: Looking elsewhere in the stream, looks like Lina's machine has a /home/marcan:
I now believe it's more likely that this is Marcan rather than Byuu, in which case WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING MARCAN I STOOD UP FOR YOU IN THESE THREADS
From the last dozen pages, this thread will become the "Marcan trooning out" thread rather than Byuu self minecraft.
Which would be pretty fun tho, Marcan would be the perfect non-passing troon material.
So the coding styles may be an indication that it’s not Byuu, but he could of gotten over his autistic need for wrappers… also wasn’t he just an emulator developer? I don’t think he’s doing low-level GPU stuff on Linux is he?

Programming Vtubers? That's about the most ironic thing I've ever seen.
Pretty sure if you walked up to a japanese girl and started talking about your favourite programming language, you'd either get a weird look or they'd slowly walk away.
