Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Bold take: CoD: Vanguard is literally a WW2 theme park. That's putting it lightly. At first glance, it looks like WW2. Then, once you get into it, it appears as a fanfiction of what an uneducated person THINKS what WW2 is.

Campaign is linear, characters are shit, multiplayer is a worse version of Modern Warfare (2019). I'm still trying to figure out why there are red dot sights in a WORLD WAR 2 based game. Or who's the genius that named the factions "MY TEAM" and "ENEMY TEAM?"

And that multiplayer announcer ... God, he's annoying.

I saw Dunkey's Vanguard video a few hours ago and somehow they have RC tanks in the 1940's.

I long for Battlefield V's one-armed woman...

you know, the absolute fucking worst part in all of this and battlefield vagina: imagine they would have gone full dieselpunk, fuck go all out and give me an fps version of paolo parente's dust. but that would require creativity and the goal to actually produce a good game, not a yearly product. that's why I can still enjoy IW's campaign, because for all it's faults at least it tried to do something new (and the first takeoff was kino as fuck, that shit was so much beyond basic bitch call of duty)

Those were real. There were quite a lot of them built actually. They were also shit. Clearly, they weren't toys the infantry would pull out of their ass, but that's just MP gameplay at that point. Literally the least egregious thing in either game.

V for Vagina is still a 1000 times worse, but these nuWW games managed to mix the complete horseshit with the merely obscure so much, all of it comes across like phony bullshit.

I'm still in shock how they fucked up the attack dogs and a fire bombing run. A randomly A.I controlled D.O.A killstreak is unbelievable stupid.

There was an unmanned RC tank used by the Germans back in the 1940s. It's called the Goliath tracked mine. Basically the Germans created some RC tank that held a large chunk of explosives, mainly used for demolition purposes. I saw this in Company of Heroes and remembered it when some autist decided to make CoH videos with (mostly) Goliaths.

Fair enough that they exist. The fact they they operate like the RC cars from Black Ops 1 and 2 definitely made me think they were something the devs made up.

Vanguard is a mix of autistic detail into equipment and animations for some guns to they don’t even care tier on others.

It’s the result of these massive dev teams tbh

Call of Duty 3 (Treyarch's first mainline CoD) has better writing than Vanguard.
 
Beat Vanguards story.
There's two fucking levels that aren't a flashback and it's fucking atrocious. Nothing really stood out and the levels are boring. I can't even remember half the characters names, I only remember Lucas because my girlfriend thought he was hot and Polina because they shove her down your throat. Kingsley is just okay, so I guess he's my favorite character.

Zombies is absolutely the weakest since advanced warfare. No Bruce Campbell to carry it either. It's a shame because I adored Cold War Zombies. Cold war is actually superior in every way and all I can think is damn. I'm glad I only paid 30 for it because my girlfriend and I went half and half but fuck.

I remember female Russian sniper, British VO, Asian soldier, and BIG, STRONG BLACK GUY. Yep, that's Vanguard.
 
Can we just appreciate the fact that 3 and World at War had in-game scripted events that don't force you in a cutscene? You know, like those moments in HL2 where there isn't a transition to a cutscene and the scene plays out in the game engine?

Anyone have that comic where WW2 movies in the far future is presented as a horse riding knight decked in the union Jack and stars and stripes who rides down Hitler wearing a pickelhaube? Cause that's the feeling I'm getting from WW2 media in current year, just with more women and black people
