Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

My Warzone 2 wishlist since I actually like BR

-More small rebirth maps

-Curb the silencer meta

-Curb large magazine meta

Thats kinda it actually? I never had a lot of complaints the weapon bloat and Caldera being kinda meh is what is holding it back right now
The devs said that part of the reason we can't play Verdansk anymore is because the install size would simply be too retardedly huge for two full sized maps. A compromise would be to just let you choose which BR map you want in your game like how you can choose if you want to spend hard drive space on coop or singleplayer.

I just want it to go back to something more modern aka 1980s-current year. It's gay going back to WW2 guns especially when they have to retcon literal RDS and night vision scopes on them to make them fun to use.

Maybe be better programmers? Elden Ring's map is much bigger, and the game is only 50GB. Clearly the japanese know how to make better, denser maps without 100GB of wasted space.

It's probably because literally nothing is compressed and like a rotary phone nobody ever looks at in a corner of the map is rendered with 4k textures. I like that COD looks great with a big map though, look at PUBG for an example of a big map but at a smaller size (aka it looks like shit).
Does anyone know if Fortnite or Apex Legends has this issue with install sizes?
Last I checked Apex is only like 80gb but it has just one map and cartoony graphics.

A bunch of rumors about the upcoming Modern Warfare II are coming out and one of the more interesting things I read from a leaker on Twitter is that MWII is getting an "Escape From Tarkov styled extraction mode" called DMZ. (Tweet Archive) According to this leaker the mode will have dynamic weather and night cycle systems. (Tweet Archive) Since these are leaks, take them with a grain of salt obviously.

I really dislike the idea of Call of Duty being the game that "popularizes" the extraction genre. The genre is not mainstream and appeals to hardcore gaymers for a reason, and with how it's being compared to Tarkov, this DMZ mode is probably going to piss a lot of retarded CoD players off since a big part of these types of games can be camping.

Here are my two predictions about the DMZ mode

1. The mode is a complete failure because CoDtards bitch and complain about "campers" in thier mode about looting shit and taking things slow so you don't lose all of your shit to a stupid death. The mode will also be poorly thought out and will have no real progression besides the system that is tied in with multiplayer, nor will playing the mode net you any actual rewards like weapon variants or skins. After awhile the mode will pretty much be forgotten in the game's life cycle as people focus on the multiplayer, the main appeal of CoD.

2. DMZ will be a massive success (somehow) and we'll see the rise in the extraction genre. This will result in more and more games or modes that don't really understand the appeal of it and eventually the genre will be flooded by cartoon, Valorant style games that all look exactly the same, effectively killing the genre.

I honestly hope prediction 1 comes true more than anything.

Tarkov is basically a big shitshow with all that software bloat + shit devs + still in beta. It means expectation 2 might be a possibility unless Battlestate Games actually improves their shit.

Didnt BF2042 have a mode like this that was basically forgotten 5 minutes after players touched it? Maybe COD will have learned how not to do something, and make something not shit.

Don't be a WW2 shooter if you cannot commit to the atmosphere.
I'm in a weird spot where I see why people are upset, but I also think they're stupid as fuck for being upset since Warzone has been goofy shit that can't stick to an atmosphere since October 2020 at least.

I feel like these people should have came to the same conclusion as I did a year and a half ago that Warzone just isn't for them and stop playing it.

I think the issue is less about what silly shit happens in Warzone, but that the exact same silly shit is available in base Vanguard. Anybody that just wanted to play a WW2 shooter need to deal with some motherfucker dressed like this.

Oh shit. I didn't realize there were cosmetics that literally *turned* you into King Kong. I thought it was just King Kong and Godzilla fighting on the Warzone map.

This is why Warzone integration is such a mistake. It should be it's own fucking thing. It's not like I could use Modern Warfare shit in Cold War.

King Kong and Godzilla armors are kosher, but god forbid Sledgehammer bother to portray half the guys that fought in the war.

As much shit as I gave Battlefield V for its aesthetic choices, even DICE knew they had to have both Allies and Axis for a WWII game.

But making someone play as a Nazi is akin to glorifying nazis and saying Hitler dindu nuffin wrong. Can't have that in current year after the tragic death of black man killed by cops #82719

Yes, it was Hazard Zone. It was supposedly the leftover parts of the original Battle Royale game DICE was making, before they changed mid-way into a game that happens to have the Battlefield name, and some game mechanics that sort of resemble a Battlefield game.

Also, wouldn't the Chinese and Koreans be offended by Japanese being a playable faction, given the touchy history between them? (i.e., the mass Nanking rapes, and the forced comfort women deal in Korea)

Might’ve mentioned this before but only thing I do in vanguard is run around with the c96 like Han Solo. It’s actually a much better strategy than it seems. Also fuck vanguard zombies.

I guess there was some backlash over how fucking goofy Sledgehammer was treating the WWII setting with all this Snoop Dog and Godzilla/Kong shit the past month or so. Call of Duty instagram decided to respond.

During development didn't they go on about wanting to preserve historical accuracy and having respect for veterans or something? Then they turn around and make a game where WW2 was actually won by a BIPOC LGBT diversity squad where Snoop Dogg fights Godzilla and King Kong on an island.
