Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Dead To Rights was overshadowed by Max Payne, which I like a lot. Though, it also sucks since I thought it was a very underappreciated game for its time.

Well, we're getting a news briefing thursday, I believe about the future of COD. We also get the beta here soon, so I'll keep you all posted.

The devs talk about the new version of gunsmith:
Reminds me of Homefront: The Revolution. Basically, it's unlock the base of a gun to transform it into other guns.

I'm liking how attachments are universally unlocked for a weapon class (variant?). That should make weapon grinding manageable.

I wish that there'd be a limit of attachments. I worry about weapon imbalance a la Vanguard.

Based on what's visible in the HUD during customization, it looks like guns will have a limit of 5 attachments excluding the receiver.

Not going to lie, I like the concept behind having interchangeable receivers, I just hope that it's not something that's just window dressing.

Its Activision, you know there's going to be a monkey's paw on this shit. Shit grind, SBMM or some other shit.

surprised the "no new cod in 2023" news isn't bigger on here. honestly they should have done that with cold war, all their warzone events were clearly designed for the 80s aesthetic. plus vanguard could have used an extra year and cold war despite its flaws clearly was loved despite the rough start.

really a sad day for gaming when the last yearly franchise outside of sports can't do it anymore.

honestly though how much longer before they just GaaS the EA games too? development time just keeps increasing and the results are shittier every year. i highly doubt the recession will help improve things.

Ledge mantles and aquatic combat. I remember Cold War and Black Ops 4 briefly had that with multi-player.

And there's equipment called DDoS. How apt.

Even better once people find a way to use the anti-cheat rootkit to hack people's computers.

Play on console.

Warzone on Mobile with cross progression with MWII. Interesting. I wonder how balanced it'll be for that platform. I invested a lot in CoD: Mobile; I can see myself doing the same with Warzone. Although, performance may be a factor.

Warzone Mobile comes out NEXT YEAR. Is it the same map as Warzone 2.0? I can imagine it'll be a drain on your phone's resources and battery.

Impulse buy:

I saw CoD: WW2 and Black Ops 4 at a pawn shop for $5 and $7, respectively. You cannot beat that. Let's see if they're as bad as the CoD community say they are.

Black ops 4 had some pretty good fun if you're into zombies. Blackout was... It existed. WW2 had a story, pretty cliché as far as WW2 stories go, but it's not bad... Just safe.
Some parts feel more like old medal of honor.

No. I can't play FPS games with a controller anymore.
just a matter of being used to it, and fwiw everybody else plays with a controller too, which evens the playing field (unless you run into the rare kb/m converter tryhard).
added perk: no cheaters.

I heard there's a character creator with WW2. Does that mean I could roleplay as a female POC Nazi?

They were never going to delay MWII just to give Sledgehammer an extra year for Vanguard since they weren't even willing to give them an extra year for Vietnam (which became Cold War).

I enjoyed Cold War for what it was, but their chance to have a year off was with Modern Warfare I and Warzone. They should have just let Sledgehammer do whatever the fuck it was they were going to do and let MWII pick up the slack. As it is now they have a game that had a lukewarm reception and a dreadful reception and now if anything is wrong with MWII people are going ot jump on it like hyenas.
