Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I'm grinding out the zombies camo and holy shit I wish they increased Legendary PAP 3 gun damage makes it so hard to get kills on later rounds
31+ is when zombies' HP has a pretty significant increase, another one at 51+ or so. Forgive retardation if I'm mistaken, World at War is the only classic zombies I played (with Black Ops 3 as an inbetween), but isn't this kind of in line with zombies? I remember watching BO/BO2 runs where those were roughly the rounds where regular weapons stopped having much effect. It's Cold War where doing high rounds was a lot easier.

If you care purely about camo/XP grind and aren't aiming for a high round game directly, best option is to exfil at 31. Make sure to have a chopper gunner or mutant injection ready, since those should make exfiling much easier.

In BO3 and BO4, they introduced special ammunition that has a random chance to always kill a zombie if you pack a punch your weapon, making later rounds go by quicker. If they removed that...lol, lmao even
There is a reason why people used to get bored and stop playing around round 15-20, and there is a reason why every new map introduces more and more OP wonder weapons.

Who was the designer of the Victis Crew maps in BO2 (Tranzit, Die Rise, Buried)? I really miss that style; I wish they went back to that aesthetic. They really need to bring about an apocalypse in this gay, retarded zombies storyline they got going on right now so we can have more atmospheric maps. Liberty Falls and Terminus are utterly lacking in that regard, and the upcoming map looks like it has the same issue.

Watched a CoD 6 vid and first thing the guy says is "it's faster than ever". I fucking hate the slide-dashing zoomer acrobatics that have become mainstay in FPS games. Shit, just standing there waddling from side to side to avoid fire in Halo feels immaculate compared to this shit show.
I appreciate how "boomer shooters" were slower by design so that players can be intentional and methodical with their movement.

PSA, from what I remember seeing in the blog posts, you can now only disable auto-claim after buying the battle pass. If you're using it to transfer CoD points between platforms (buying pass on one platform, claiming rewards on the other), you have to do it before the sixth token.

I noticed that my CoD Points sync between CoDs. WWII, Cold War, MW2019, BO6. Cool. I don't see why you'd want to stop CoD Points syncing between games. XP tokens do as well.

I have the Blackcell battle pass. I like how it's linear. I wish it would level up faster. I see it's going for a fiery, supernatural theme with its comestics. I can tolerate it since Zombies goes that route.

There's a new capture game mode called Ransack. You collect gold bars from a rotating stockpile to return to your base. It's basically Battlefield Hardline's Blood Money mode in Call of Duty. I like it. It goes with CoD's fast paced gameplay.

The three new maps are meh. Extraction is too open, Heirloom has bad spawns, Hideout is okay.

I had all my old XP tokens this morning, now I find it was a "mistake" and they took them back.

Yet I can just open up Warzone, activate them, and then go back to BO6 and they work fine. What an annoying useless and tedious change.

Well, the store is active in Black Ops 6. Already, there's some out there skins for sale.

The whole gulf war setting felt so forced and by the numbers, just like this game. We had the first Black Ops set in the 60s, half of BO2 took place in the 80s, so where do we go from here? Well, further in the future, which was the right call, but I guess Activision didn't think so. With Cold War aka BO5 we went back to the 80s, so naturally BO6 has to take place in the 90s. What the hell will BO7 be about, grandpa Woods going even more senile as a black non-binary CIA nigger you play as takes secret orders from W in the post 9/11 era? We will, ironically enough, loop back to the starting date of COD4, which was in 2011, pretty soon.

Nobody should be surprised about the shitty cosmetics, this has been an issue for years now. COD is just an M rated Fortnite now, yet another reason not to buy the game. I wonder why the artists even bother trying to faithfully replicate the setting anymore, knowing that Snoop Dogg and Nicky Minaj will be shooting rainbow sparkly neon laser guns at one another in a few months time.

2025 will make Black Ops 2 Current Year. Feel old yet?

I've beat Black Ops 6 on Veteran difficulty. Story was serviceable, the motivation for Jane Harrow and the Pantheon gave me the drive to see the story end. I almost feel that the Gulf War marketing was bait and switch. Only a couple references that imply that it's in the 90s. I loved the non-shooting segments aside from the zombie level.

Upgrading your character was unnecessary, just for padding purposes. Having armored enemies in CoD ruins the pacing since you're unloading ammo at a bullet sponge. Where do you even go for Black Ops anymore since Black Ops 2/3 takes place in the future?

BO4 originally was going to focus on a post-futuristic world back when it was still going to be a sequel to BO3. After the events of BO3, most governments collapse and two different factions have been made: One being a NWO like world government and the other an alliance based on democracy and rule of people. You would choose to play as either one of the two factions and your choices would impact the story, ala BO2, to the point where you would have entire unique levels depending on your actions or objectives completed. You would play the same campaign missions from both sides, showing how the events looked for each faction.
This philosophy was carried over into the more modern setting of BO4 from the final game, complete with the same factions(albeit with Winslow Accord and CDP only now getting their start rather than falling apart since it's a prequel to BO3) and the same philosophy, but now we had co-op with two different "teams" that would compete against one another and a bigger focus on specialist characters(even in the future draft, the ones from BO3 multiplayer would show up as actual characters)

Unfortunately, combination of Activision not feeling confident about a fourth futuristic title and the devs not knowing how to handle this new way of playing the campaign let to massive delays and cuts, until single player has been reduced to a tutorial mode for multiplayer in the final game and fully replaced with Blackout, using largely assets from the new more modern campaign that would take place in Spain(that includes several multiplayer maps also set in Spain to confirm this).

So, what 2042 attempted to do, but better. Wasn't the Chinese a faction or story setpiece in Black Ops?

My understanding of Black Ops 6 was that somebody in the CIA deflected with Woods and crew taking the blame or discovering the mole to clear their names. I expected alternative endings or player choice like past installments. Hell, I expected some parallel between real world events and the Black Ops canon. Name dropping political figures does not count.

Yes, Chinese are one of the antagonist factions in 2025 in BO2, in a world where a second cold war won by cybernetic espionage, drones and information warfare taking place. Depending on your actions, Chinese either stay as the enemies of USA or they help out USS Barrack Obama(lol) when it gets flooded with Cordis Die mercs. The implication in the latter ending is that the world has a temporary truce in dealing with Menendez and his "Judgement Day". Chinese are also a minor faction in the 80s side of the campaign and one of the characters from there ends up being the commander of SDC come 2025(there is an optional mission to kill him that you need to do in order to get the best ending and make US-China peace possible).
SDC are also a faction in multiplayer, altho all the chinks sound like Chinese-Americans rather than proper born chinamen. I doubt they Activision would have the balls to make them a proper faction again, hell what turned me off immediately from Cold War was Activision censoring out Tianamen Square footage from the reveal trailer. I only picked the game up later on a sale purely for zombies.

As of BO3, the implication is that in the post-Menendez world we enter the third cold war, and China have signed up for CDP alongside old friends like Russia, with their western equivalent being Winslow Accord.

With the desync, this might actually be the worst multiplayer experience I've ever had. I went so far as to record a couple of matches through steam and compare it to theater mode, and it's like two different sets of events are happening server and client.

I'm getting better ping than I was during MW3 as well, it just feels like 5ms difference in this game is 50ms in older ones.

Lord only knows how much of that is part of the shitty servers and how much of that is on the horrid SBMM, which has been proven to effect lag input at least as of MW2023(probably older than that).
Texture streaming only compounds the issue. Leave it to Activision to ruin the only part of COD that people actually care about anymore, which is being able to play online.

How's everybody's experience with Season 1?

Battle Pass is bugged; it doesn't show your level progress beyond the first item per page. CoD HQ always requires an update every couple hours, which boots you out after matches. They removed XP tokens between games?!

There's a bug in zombies right now where if you reload and replate at the same time, it eats plates and mags, and it seems to compound. I ended up in the patient 13 fight in a state where every time I weapon swapped, I either had to reload the gun, or I ended up with all of my stock ammo in my magazine
