Can anyone explain the unending Christian spergery since covid?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
there has been a near constant politicized technically unitarian alliance of Christians who happen to be young men and i can't put my finger on it but they don't seem authentic about their faith
Go on 4plebs, to the /pol/ archive.
Do a search for mentions of "Christ is King" before 2020, then 2020-2022, then 2022-2025
Shit bricks.

which always made me laugh. The entirety of "norse paganism" is summed up as:
"Let's follow this one eyed cripple who bums off of the kindness of strangers, who demands we do the same shit Jihaadists do so we have the chance to get into 'valhalla' which is really more like a shitty dive bar where we fight and drink and screw female angels Valkyries until it's time for the rapture Ragnarok, in which we are all pre-destined to be wiped from existence and die like complete mooks to a giant zombie dog who also teams up with a giant snake who kills our god of thunder like a punk bitch, all the other gods die bleakly and the world ends. BUT HEY, WE DIED (again) FIGHTING IN THE MOSTEST EPIC FIGHT EVAR (really we just got wiped out effortlessly)."

If these fuckers actually read "the sagas", they'd realize the Aesir and Vanir aren't badasses, they're punks who are predestined to lose in an almost comical fashion.
Yea how dumb, I only listen to hypocritical Jews that get brutally murdered on purpose and then encourages those who follow him to do the same. Blood sacrifice is only cringe when the other side does it

Naturally. Catholocism and Orthodox are the most visually ostentatious (read: just like my Warhammer 40ks!) so they're the most likely to attract larpers, who are primarily aesthetic-focused. A humble little pasteboard prottie shoebox hardly evokes the same chest-puffing cultural pride as Notre-Dame de Paris.
There are other reasons to respect Catholicism over Protestantism, or at least the uniquely puritanical American strain. Catholics, for all their faults, at least recognize that human beings are people and not meat machines. When you take into account the kind of austere and anti-human shit that American Protestants get up to it's hard not to see why so many angry teens turned atheist all those years ago.
I don't live in the former soviet union so I don't know anything about Orthodoxy. Russophobes and NAFOfags say they're just a mouthpiece for Putin and I've never heard Vatniks deny this, but I know literally nothing else aside from the cool art and Santa Claus beating the shit out of some guy.

**to piggyback on this with my own personal theory - I suspect that this might also be the greater pathology behind the emergence of looksmaxxing culture as well. (an entire generation of autists being afflicted with severe BDD - as a result of exposure to over 10 years of nonstop fedora/neckbeard jokes pervading the entire internet; and hence - the overcompensation/overcorrection measures in distancing themselves from "appearing autistic" - or otherwise quelling the insecurity of turning into the next lolcow Charlie Gordon figure on a social/externally percieved basis.)

it's literally just because the roles have flipped and atheism is seen as the establishment and christianity is now counter culture and cool.
A good take.

If I could add to this, IMO it's because people no longer believe in 'the narrative' and are buying out of being told what to do by society slowly but surely.

Take a look at the shit-show that is X and the replies on the Climate Change posts, it used to be that almost every poster was like 'Oh yeah, Climate Change is bad and I must be good obedient retard and not question my Masters and Overlords'. Now, people are like 'Get to fuck with that, if celebrities can fly around the world and not feel guilty then so can I!'

COVID inadvertently did what the Elites did not want to happen - it red pilled people big time and now there's no going back.

Atheists are faggots who saw that grumpy old unfunny fag Carlin say fuck on stage and the limp wrist homo Carl Sagan memes on reddit talking about how enlightened they are. While pagans larp as heckin warriorinos for the cum consoomer Odin while wearing an Etsy purchased mjolnir necklace.
Yea how dumb, I only listen to hypocritical Jews that get brutally murdered on purpose and then encourages those who follow him to do the same
As you can see a cum drinker has been spotted not understanding that Christ doesn’t call for his followers to seek out becoming a martyr but instead expects they may face hardships or even death for their faith. But to actively seek out death for their faith to make a point isn’t what Jesus directed his followers to do at all instead to become vessels and spread the word of the Lord and humble themselves before the creator. Christs sacrifice of himself was all that was needed to absolve man of their sin for a new covenant to form (which Jews denied Christ for yet again spitting in the face of God) inb4 you start sperging and post dead kike on a pike

To assume all "American Protestantism" is "austere and anti-human" is roughly as charitable and rooted in reality as the claim that all Catholics are altar-boy molesting fruits masquerading under a shield of pomp and pageantry. It is wise to question the narratives you see propped up by the media, however comfortable it may be to imagine every one of Those Fuckers regularly uses a True and Honest anti-masturbation cross.

The narratives propped up by the media aren't what drove me to despise the American Protestant. In fact, it was media that drove me to think that Christians weren't the blind, ignorant retards I thought they were back in my fedora years. I actually used to have a pretty positive opinion of Christianity in general, this in spite of being an unabashed atheist. Narratives propped up by conservative media, a generally cautious and skeptical attitude, an unhealthy dose of hopeless romanticism, and having been exposed to the hidebound and condescending attitudes of secular RationalWiki and Tumblr types in my late teens drove me into holding a rose-tinted vision of Christian brotherhood and compassion; I might've thought their beliefs were bunk, but I admired their convictions and their desire to do good for others.

Now that I've been a part of KF since 2018 (I lost my old account because of retardation), I've met and spoken to a ton of Christians of the American Protestant type in particular, as well as having seen the way they behave in other spaces online, as well as the town I now live in and conservative-approved media. I find myself asking the same question I did back on RationalWiki: "How are these arrogant, contemptuous pricks any better than this other brace of arrogant, contemptuous pricks?" After a while I stopped making excuses for them.

So no, I'm not brainwashed by the liberal media. Everything that has driven me to realize that Protestantism in the US is a bunch of soulless, performative, anti-human wank was inspired entirely by the way these Protestants have chosen to present themselves—here and elsewhere—uneditorialized, without any filter. I hate them not out of ignorance, but because I know what they are.

And on top of that I've seen this implication or idea floating around in theological discussion that humanity isn't capable of creating goodness from within themselves. That any act of kindness, or love, or charity or grace that isn't done in the name of or for the sake of God is not a TRUE and HONEST good deed. This disgusts me on a personal level and flies so much in the face of basically everything I know to be true, that I'm hesitant to even believe that most Christians buy into this idea.

Well, that seems like a bit of an arrogant, contemptuous assumption. I'm sorry if you've had a bad local experience, and count you as fortunate you've never experienced a similarly "arrogant, contemptuous" interaction with a Catholic, but it's frankly ridiculous to call people running food drives and soup kitchens purely performative, and to believe you know the totality of every denomination that falls under that very broad category.

Being as you seem hesitant to explain in exact terms what your specific beef with "American Protestantism" is beyond some vaguely Calvinist approach to the nature of good (which is certainly not anywhere approaching universal), I'll refrain from speculating. But the repeated references to RationalWiki suggest that you've been on a very interesting spiritual journey already, so I can only say I hope you eventually see fit to continue it with an open mind.

Pretty much this. Been a Christian my whole life and it does feel pretty nice to see people say that we were right when it came to the alphabet soup slippery slope, but there has been a concerning amount of Christianity grifting and tourism. Which is something frowned upon in the Bible.

The amount of degenerates claiming "Christ is King" in their profiles only to post the most hanus and vile stuff that no God knowing and Bible reading "Christian" would ever say/post has been mind boggling.

As nice as the validation feels, it's not really worth the rise of these grifters.

Believe me, I've experienced bad Catholics too, but in general the Catholics seem to have a greater compassion for people outside of the faith and for those who stumble on their path. I suppose you could chalk it up to worldly corruption, but it's better than nothing.
There are good people in just about every group, doesn't necessarily make the whole group good. There are even good Muslims, despite how fucked their faith can get. I think about the only kind of group that could conceivably be 100% full of bad people would be something like NAMBLA.

I feel like these food drives and soup kitchens also serve as a form of recruitment center. I realize I don't have any concrete proof that this is the case, but it does remind me of how AA, ostensibly a support group to help people struggling with alcohol addiction is really an underhanded way to lure vulnerable people into the church, which I find cultish and distateful.

It's too much to go into. I've been keeping in a lot of cynicism frankly out of fear of ostracization, which I realize is really pathetic.
In a general sense I find that those denominations that hold to a more Puritanical, fundamentalist belief are seen as more "good" in the eyes of the American Christian community, and something a little more—I guess "open" or "compassionate" would be the word—like Methodism is treated with petty disdain. And on an even more general note on Christianity as a whole, I feel like the whole idea of living a good life for the sake of an eternal reward is a life lived falsely. Personally, I think goodness is its own reward.
But the repeated references to RationalWiki suggest that you've been on a very interesting spiritual journey already, so I can only say I hope you eventually see fit to continue it with an open mind.
I appreciate that at least, but I've never stopped being an atheist. I've just stopped purposefully being an asshole about it.

Now imagine that you fervently believein your heart of hearts that you can live a moral life while also living a secular one, only to must realize that the people who share in your spiritual disbelief are a bunch of con artists, doomers, pretentious pseuds and opinionless bugmen.
